2022–23 Women's EHF Champions League
The 2022–23 Women's EHF Champions League is the 30th edition of Europe's premier club handball tournament, running from September 2022 to 4 June 2023. Format The tournament will run using the same format as the previous two seasons. The competition begins with a group stage featuring sixteen teams divided into two groups. Matches are played in a double round-robin system with home-and-away fixtures, fourteen in total for each team. In Groups A and B, the top two teams automatically qualify for the quarter-finals, with teams ranked 3rd to 6th entering the playoff round. The knockout stage includes four rounds: the playoffs, quarter-finals, and a final-four tournament comprising two semifinals and the final. In the playoffs, eight teams are paired against each other in two-legged home-and-away matches (third-placed in group A plays sixth-placed group B; fourth-placed group A plays fifth-placed group B, etc.). Women's EHF Champions League
The Women's EHF Champions League is the competition for the top women's handball clubs in Europe, organised annually by the European Handball Federation (EHF). It is the most prestigious tournament for clubs, with the champions of Europe's top national leagues participating. Tournament structure Each year, the EHF publishes a ranking list of its member federations. The first 27 nations are allowed to participate in the tournament with their national champion. The national federations are allowed to request extra places or upgrades from the EHF Cup. The EHF Champions League is divided into five stages. Depending on the ranking of their national federation and of the criteria list, teams can enter the competition in either qualification or the group phase. Rukometni Klub Lokomotiva Zagreb ( en, Lokomotiva Zagreb Handball Club) is a Croatian professional women's handball club from Zagreb. They are currently competing in the 2022–23 Women's EHF Champions League. Lokomotiva was the most successful team in the Yugoslav Championship's early stages, winning eight championships between 1956 and 1970. In 1975, the team reached the final of the European Cup after winning its ninth championship. However, the following fifteen years were unsuccessful, with Radnički Belgrade dominating the championship. CS Rapid București is a Romanian professional handball club based in Giulești, in the northwestern parts of Bucharest. Founded in 1934, they play their home games at the Sala Rapid. The club competes in the Liga Națională, the top division of Romanian handball. They won their first major honour, the League championship, in 1961.
