Verein für Leibesübungen Bochum 1848 Fußballgemeinschaft, commonly referred to as simply VfL Bochum (), is a Football in Germany, German association football club based in the city of Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia. The club has spent 35 seasons in the Bundesliga. History Founding to World War II VfL Bochum is one of the oldest sports organizations in the world, claiming an origin date of 26 July 1848 when an article in the ''Märkischer Sprecher'' – a local newspaper – called for the creation of a gymnastics club. The Turnverein zu Bochum was then formally established on 18 February 1849. The club was banned on 28 December 1852 for political reasons and then reestablished on 19 June 1860. Philipp Förster
Philipp Förster (born 4 February 1995) is a German professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club VfL Bochum. After playing youth football with Karlsruher SC and VfB Stuttgart, he started his senior career in the Regionalliga Südwest with Waldhof Mannheim in 2014. He joined 2. Bundesliga side 1. FC Nürnberg in January 2017, but failed to make a first-team appearance and joined fellow 2. Bumdesliga side SV Sandhausen later that year. Two years later, he signed for 2. Simon Zoller (born 26 June 1991) is a German professional footballer who plays as a striker for Bundesliga club VfL Bochum. Career Zoller began his career with Karlsruher SC, and made his debut for the club in November 2010, as a substitute for Patrick Dulleck in a 0–0 draw with VfL Osnabrück in the 2. Bundesliga.
