2022–23 Ulster Rugby Season
The 2022–23 season was Ulster Rugby's 29th season since the advent of professionalism in rugby union. They competed in the United Rugby Championship, finishing second in the league table and going out in the quarter-finals, and the European Rugby Champions Cup going out in the round of 16. It was Dan McFarland's fifth season as head coach. Scrum-half John Cooney was leading scorer with 154 points. Hooker Tom Stewart was leading try scorer with 17, and won the URC Top Try Scorer and Next-Gen Player of the Season awards. Events Personnel changes Ulster appointed a new defence coach, Jonny Bell, returning to his home province from a spell at Worcester Warriors, in place of the departing Jared Payne. Ulster Rugby is one of the four professional provincial rugby teams from the island of Ireland. They compete in the United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Champions Cup. Bradley Roberts
Bradley Roberts is a rugby union player who plays as a hooker for United Rugby Championship side Dragons RFC. He was called up to play international rugby for Wales in 2021. Roberts was born in Durban, South Africa where he attended Durban Preparatory High School and then Michaelhouse. After school, having failed to get an academy or development contract with a South African provincial team, he moved to Colwyn Bay, north Wales, and joined RGC 1404 in mid-season. He returned to South Africa in the summer, where he trained and played with the Sharks at under-19 level. Rory Sutherland (rugby Union)
Rory Sutherland (born 24 August 1992) is a Scottish rugby union player who plays for Ulster Rugby in the United Rugby Championship. Education Sutherland is a former Trinity Primary and Hawick High School pupil. Playing career Sutherland came through the ranks with his hometown club and school sides before representing the Borders and Scotland at under-17 and under-18 in the back-row. He switched to loose-head prop during his first season of senior rugby at Hawick RFC, Hawick and, after a season with Biggar RFC, Biggar, caught the attention of RBS Premiership runners-up and Border League winners Gala RFC, Gala. The British & Irish Lions is a rugby union team selected from players eligible for the national teams of England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. The Lions are a test side and most often select players who have already played for their national team, although they can pick uncapped players who are eligible for any of the four unions. The team currently tours every four years, with these rotating between Australia, New Zealand and South Africa in order. Jude Postlethwaite (born 3 April 2002) is an Irish rugby union player, currently playing for United Rugby Championship and European Rugby Champions Cup side Ulster. His preferred position is centre. He played rugby at RBAI, under future Ulster assistant coach Dan Soper, was top scorer in the 2020 Ulster Schools' Cup, and represented Ulster Schools. Declan Moore (born 15 September 1996) is a New Zealand-born, Australian rugby union player who plays for Irish United Rugby Championship club Ulster. He plays as a hooker. Born in New Zealand, Moore moved to Australia at a young age. He has played most of his senior rugby for Sydney University in the Shute Shield, also representing Sydney during the 2019 National Rugby Championship. Super Rugby club Melbourne Rebels selected Moore in their squad for the 2020 Super Rugby season and the 2020 Super Rugby AU season, but he made no appearances for the club during these competitions. Wasps Rugby Football Club is a professional rugby union team. They last played in Premiership Rugby, the top division of English rugby until being suspended on 12 October 2022. On 17 October 2022 the club entered administration, resulting in relegation to the RFU Championship, and all staff being made redundant. They exited administration on 16 December 2022. Jeffery Latu Toomaga-Allen (born 19 November 1990) is a rugby union footballer who plays as a tighthead prop for Samoa, and for Ulster in the United Rugby Championship. He previously played for Wellington Lions in the ITM Cup and the Hurricanes in Super Rugby. Toomaga-Allen has also played for New Zealand's international rugby team, the All Blacks, three times during his career. Career Toomaga-Allen represented New Zealand under 20 in the 2010 IRB Junior World Championship.
