2022–23 Slovak First Football League
The 2022–23 Slovak First Football League (known as Fortuna liga for sponsorship reasons) was the 30th season of the top-tier football league in Slovakia since its establishment in 1993. The winter break began earlier than usual this season due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The last full round was scheduled for 11–13 November 2022. Four postponed matches then took place on 24 and 27 November. The first round after the winter break was scheduled for 10–12 February 2023. Four-time defending champion Slovan Bratislava successfully defended their title, securing a record-extending fifth consecutive and 13th overall championship. The Slovak First Football League (), officially known as Niké liga for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Slovakia and the highest level of the Slovak football league system. It was formed in 1993 following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The record for most titles is fifteen, held by Slovan Bratislava, who are the current title holders. History The current independent top football division in Slovakia was formed in 1993 as a result of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The predecessors of the current top football division in Slovakia were Zväzové Majstrovstvá Slovenska (1925–1933) and Slovenská liga (1938–1944). Štadión pod Čebraťom () is a multi-purpose stadium in Ružomberok, Slovakia. It is currently used mostly for association football, football matches and is the home ground of MFK Ružomberok. It is named after the hill Čebrať, adjacent to which it is located, and the name of the stadium literally means "Stadium under the Čebrať Hill." The stadium holds 4,876 people. The intensity of the floodlighting is 1,400 lux. History The stadium was built in 1955 and used for football matches of MFK Ružomberok sport club. UEFA stadium categories are categories for football stadiums laid out in UEFA's Stadium Infrastructure Regulations. Using these regulations, stadiums are rated as category one, two, three, or four (renamed from elite) in ascending ranking order. These categories replaced the previous method of ranking stadiums on one to five star scale in 2006. MFK Ružomberok
MFK Ružomberok () is a Slovak professional football club playing in the city of Ružomberok. History Established in 1906, the club's colours have been traditionally white, yellow and red, which are also featured on the town's flag. However, the sponsor Mondi Business Paper SCP introduced new colours in 2005: orange, black and white. In 1993 the club gained promotion to the Slovak Second Division for the first time and a second promotion to the Corgoň Liga in 1997. FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce – Vráble is a Slovakia, Slovak Association football, football team, based in the town of Zlaté Moravce. The club was founded on 22 January 1995. History From the club's establishment in 1995 until 2004, they played in various regional competitions. In 2004 they were promoted to the Slovak Second Division, and then in the 2006–07 season were promoted to the Corgoň Liga, and won the Slovak Cup, beating FC Senec 4–0. This earned them place in the first qualifying round of the 2007–08 UEFA Cup. FK Senica () is a Slovakia, Slovak football (soccer), football team, based in the town of Senica. The club was founded in 1921. History FK Senica was founded in 1921.
