2022–23 Saudi Pro League
The 2022–23 Saudi Professional League (known as the Roshn Saudi League for sponsorship reasons) was the 47th edition of the Saudi Professional League, the top Saudi professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1976. Fixtures for the first half of the 2022–23 season were announced on 4 August 2022. Al-Hilal were the three-time defending champions after winning their recording extending 18th title last season. Al-Adalah, Al-Khaleej, and Al-Wehda join as the three promoted clubs from the 2021–22 Yelo League. They replaced Al-Ahli, Al-Faisaly, and Al-Hazem who were relegated to the 2022–23 Yelo League. The winner will play in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia as the host club. Al-Tai Football Club ( ar, نادي الطائي, nādī aṭ-ṭāyyī, Tayy Club) is a professional football club based in Ha'il, Saudi Arabia, that plays in the Saudi Professional League, the top tier of Saudi football. Abha Club
Abha Football Club () is a professional Saudi Arabian association football club based in Abha that is currently playing in the Saudi Professional League, the highest tier of Saudi football. Their home stadium is Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium. They were first promoted to the top flight in 2005 when they finished as runners up in the First Division. However, they were relegated after just one season. They achieved their second promotion in 2008 when they also finished as runners up. During the 2018–19 season Abha won their first First Division title as well as promotion to the Pro League for the third in the club's history. Al Ettifaq Football Club ( ar, نادي الاتفاق لكرة القدم) is a professional football club in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Al-Ettifaq was established after the merging of three clubs in the city of Dammam at the year 1944. The 2022–23 First Division League (known as the Yelo League for sponsorship reasons) is the 2nd season of the Saudi First Division League after its rebrand, and the 46th season of the Saudi First Division since its establishment in 1976. The season started on 22 August 2022 and will conclude in May 2023. Overview Changes On 9 October 2020, the Saudi FF announced that the number of teams in the league would be decreased to 18 starting from the 2022–23 season. Due to this decision, 5 teams were relegated last season instead of the usual 4 teams. In addition, only 3 teams were promoted from the Second Division instead of 4 teams. On 14 April 2022, the Saudi FF announced that the number of teams in the Pro League would be increased from 16 to 18 teams. Al-Faisaly FC ( ar, نادي الفيصلي) is a Saudi Arabian football team playing in the Saudi Professional League, based in Harmah City with a population of around 15,000 people. The club is named after King Faisal (r. 1964–75); he was crown prince at the time of the club's founding. History Al-Faisaly finished as the runner-up in the 2005–06 first division season, thus becoming the first club from the Sudair region to achieve promotion to the top flight but went straight back down after just one season. Al-Ahli Saudi Football Club ( ar, النادي الأهلي السعودي) is a Saudi Arabian professional football club based in Jeddah, that competes in the second division of Saudi Arabian football, following their relegation from the Saudi Professional League in the 2021–22 season.
