2022–23 Philadelphia Flyers Season
The 2022–23 Philadelphia Flyers season was the 56th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. On April 1, 2023, the Flyers were eliminated from playoff contention after a loss to the Buffalo Sabres. Off-season On June 17, John Tortorella was named the 23rd head coach in team history. No captain was named to replace the departed Claude Giroux, who signed with the Ottawa Senators as a free agent following his stint with the Florida Panthers. In fact, only one player, Scott Laughton, was chosen by Tortorella to serve as an alternate captain throughout the entire season. Regular season General manager Chuck Fletcher was fired on March 10 and replaced on an interim basis by Daniel Briere. The interim label was removed from Briere’s title a month after the regular season ended. Metropolitan Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Metropolitan Division (often referred to simply as the "Metro Division") was formed in 2013 as one of the two divisions in the Eastern Conference as part of a league realignment. It is also a successor of the original Atlantic Division and one of the two successors to the Southeast Division. Six of its teams were previously together in the Patrick Division from 1981 to 1993 (one joined in 1982). Carter Hart
Carter Hart ( ; born August 13, 1998) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Born and raised in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Hart began training with a sport psychologist from the age of ten, and played minor hockey in the Alberta Minor Midget AAA Hockey League. The Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League (WHL) selected Hart in the eighth round of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. He made his debut with the Silvertips in 2014 at the age of 16, and was the team's starting goaltender by the end of the season. In his time with the Silvertips, Hart was a three-time winner of the Del Wilson Trophy, a two-time CHL Goaltender of the Year, and a recipient of the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy. 2022–23 New York Islanders Season
The 2022–23 New York Islanders season was the 51st season in the franchise's history. It was their second season in UBS Arena. Lane Lambert was promoted to head coach on May 16, 2022, after Barry Trotz was fired at the end of the 2021–22 season. The Islanders clinched a playoff berth on April 12, 2023, after defeating the Montreal Canadiens. The Islanders lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in the First Round in six games. During game 3 against the Hurricanes, the Islanders set a record for the fastest consecutive four goals in Stanley Cup playoffs history, at 2 minutes and 18 seconds. The 2022–23 Washington Capitals season was the 49th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 11, 1974. KeyBank Center is a multipurpose indoor arena located in Buffalo, New York. Originally known as Marine Midland Arena, the venue has since been named HSBC Arena and First Niagara Center. The 2022–23 Boston Bruins season was the Bruins' 99th season as a member of the National Hockey League. On November 25, 2022, the Bruins set a record for most consecutive home wins to start the season with 12 straight with a 3–2 overtime win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Claude Giroux
Claude Giroux (; born January 12, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward and alternate captain for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has previously played for the Philadelphia Flyers and the Florida Panthers. Selected by the Flyers 22nd overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Giroux was named the Flyers' team captain in 2013, and became the longest-tenured captain in team history.
