2022–23 Old Dominion Monarchs Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 Old Dominion Monarchs men's basketball team represented Old Dominion University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Monarchs, led by 10th-year head coach Jeff Jones, played their home games at Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia as first-year members of the Sun Belt Conference. Previous season The Monarchs finished the 2021–22 season 13–19, 8–10 in C-USA play to finish in fifth place in the East division. They lost to UTEP in the second round of the C-USA tournament. On October 27, 2021, Old Dominion announced that the season would be the last for the team in Conference USA and that they would join the Sun Belt Conference on July 1, 2022. Jeff Jones (basketball)
Jeffrey Allen Jones (born June 29, 1960) is an American former college basketball player and coach. He was a four-year starter for the Virginia Cavaliers, helping his team to win an NIT title and reach the NCAA Final Four. He became an assistant coach and eventually the head coach at his ''alma mater'', with a tenure of eight years; he then coached the American Eagles for thirteen years; and the Old Dominion Monarchs for eleven years. In total, Jones was a head coach for thirty-two years, amassing a overall record and a winning record with each of his three programs, reaching the NCAA Tournament at each stop—including an Elite Eight run with Virginia in 1995. The Ohio Bobcats men's basketball team is an intercollegiate varsity sports program of Ohio University. The team is a member of the Mid-American Conference competing in NCAA Division I, Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Xavier Musketeers men's basketball team represents Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. The school's team currently competes in the Big East Conference. Benjamin Alfred Stanley (born March 12, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for LTH CASTINGS SKOFJA LOKA of the Slovenian Basketball League. He played college basketball for the Hampton Pirates, Xavier Musketeers and the Old Dominion Monarchs. Early life Stanley was born in Syracuse, New York and moved with his family to Baltimore, Maryland while in fifth grade. He played basketball for Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Essex, Maryland for two years and Baltimore City College for one year.
