2022–23 New York Rangers Season
The 2022–23 New York Rangers season was the franchise's 96th season of play and their 97th season overall. During the off-season, the Rangers named Jacob Trouba the 28th captain in franchise history. Trouba became the first captain since Ryan McDonagh was traded during the 2017–18 season, and is also the 12th defenseman in franchise history to be named captain. He is the fourth consecutive U.S.-born player to be named captain after Chris Drury (2008–2011), Ryan Callahan (2011–2014) and McDonagh (2014–2018). Trouba served as an alternate captain the previous two years, while being lauded for his leadership abilities by previous Rangers head coach, David Quinn, and his successor, Gerard Gallant. On March 14, 2023, the Rangers were featured in the first-ever live, animated NHL telecast called the " NHL Big City Greens Classic". Metropolitan Division
The National Hockey League's Metropolitan Division (often referred to simply as the "Metro Division") was formed in 2013 as one of the two divisions in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference as part of a league realignment. It is also a successor of the original Atlantic Division (NHL, 1993–2013), Atlantic Division and one of the two successors to the Southeast Division (NHL), Southeast Division. Six of its teams were previously together in the Patrick Division from 1981 to 1993 (one joined in 1982). Ryan McDonagh
Ryan Patrick McDonagh (born June 13, 1989) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). Drafted in the first round, 12th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens in 2007, he played college hockey for the Badgers at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He also played for the New York Rangers, for whom he served as team captain from October 2014 until being traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2018. McDonagh won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Lightning in 2020 and 2021. He has played in another 2 finals in 2014 with the Rangers and 2022 with the Lightning. McDonagh also competes internationally for the United States and was a member of the men's ice hockey team at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. The 2022–23 Boston Bruins season was the Bruins' 99th season as a member of the National Hockey League. On November 25, 2022, the Bruins set a record for most consecutive home wins to start the season with 12 straight with a 3–2 overtime win over the Carolina Hurricanes. The streak extended to 14 on December 3. The streak ended three days later after they lost 4–3 to the Vegas Golden Knights in a shootout. The 2022–23 New York Islanders season was the 51st season in the franchise's history. It was their second season in UBS Arena. Lane Lambert was promoted to head coach on May 16, 2022, after Barry Trotz was fired at the end of the 2021–22 season. The Islanders clinched a playoff berth on April 12, 2023, after defeating the Montreal Canadiens. The Islanders lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in the First Round in six games. The 2022–23 Florida Panthers season was the 29th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established in 1993. It is the Panthers' 24th season at FLA Live Arena.
