2022–23 New Jersey Devils Season
The 2022–23 New Jersey Devils season was the 49th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 11, 1974, and 41st season since the franchise relocated from Colorado prior to the 1982–83 NHL season. This season saw the Devils clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2018 following a win over the Ottawa Senators on March 25, 2023. On April 6, the team recorded its second 50-win season in franchise history. In the First Round of the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs, the Devils defeated the New York Rangers in a seven-game series. It was their first playoff series win since the 2011–12 season, which was also against the Rangers. They were then defeated by the Carolina Hurricanes in five games in the Second Round. The National Hockey League's Metropolitan Division (often referred to simply as the "Metro Division") was formed in 2013 as one of the two divisions in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference as part of a league realignment. Mackenzie Blackwood (born December 9, 1996) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). Blackwood was the top-rated North American goaltender ranked in the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's final rankings for the 2015 NHL entry draft. Nicolas Daws (born December 22, 2000) is a German–Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected 84th overall by the Devils in the 2020 NHL entry draft. Playing career In the two seasons leading up to the 2019 NHL entry draft, Daws' first year of draft eligibility, he was the backup goaltender for the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Appearing in just 34 games over those two years, Daws led the OHL in goals against average and save percentage with a 2.06 and .939, respectively. The 2011–12 New York Rangers season was the franchise's List of New York Rangers seasons, 85th season of play and their 86th season overall. The 2011–12 New Jersey Devils season was the 38th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 11, 1974, and 30th season since the franchise relocated from Colorado prior to the 1982–83 NHL season. The Devils hoped to return to the playoffs after having their long playoff streak snapped the previous year. While finishing fourth in the strong Atlantic Division, they ranked sixth in the Eastern Conference, thus securing a playoff berth, and faced the Southeast Division-winning Florida Panthers in the Conference Quarterfinals where they won in seven games. The 2022–23 Ottawa Senators season was the 31st season of the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Senators improved on their record compared to the previous season, but failed to qualify for the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season.
