2022–23 Moldovan Super Liga
The 2022–23 Moldovan Super Liga is the 32nd season of top-tier football in Moldova. The season started on 30 July 2022 and will conclude on 20 May 2023. Sheriff Tiraspol are the defending champions. The winners of the league this season will earn a spot in the first qualifying round of the 2023–24 UEFA Champions League, and the second and third placed clubs will earn a place in the first qualifying round of the 2023–24 UEFA Europa Conference League. Teams A total of 8 teams will compete in the league. The top 7 teams from the 2021–22 season and one promoted team from the Divizia A: Dacia Buiucani, returning to the top tier after one year absence. Moldovan Super Liga
The Moldovan Super Liga is an association football league that is currently the top division of Moldovan football league system. The competition was established in 1992, when the country became independent from the Soviet Union. It was formed in place of former Soviet republican competitions that existed since 1945. Before the Soviet occupation of Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina in 1940, clubs from modern Moldova competed in the Romanian football competitions, particularly Nistru Chișinău. There are currently eight teams in the competition. At the end of the season, the bottom club is relegated to the Moldovan Liga 1 and replaced by the lower league's champion. Sheriff Tiraspol—located in Transnistria—is the most successful league club with 20 titles, and is followed by Zimbru Chișinău with eight wins. Ivan Tabanov
Ivan Tabanov (born 7 August 1966) is a Moldovan football manager and former player who is currently the manager of FC Sucleia. In October 2014 Ivan Tabanov was interrogated and arrested by the Latvian State Police, being accused of match fixing. Being a suspect in the ongoing investigation, he was disqualified from the Latvian Higher League for an undetermined period of time by the Latvian Football Federation. Hîncești
Hîncești () is a city and municipality in Moldova. Hîncești is situated on the Cogâlnic River, southwest of the Moldovan capital, Chișinău. Since 2003 it has been the seat of Hîncești District. History Hîncești was established in 1500 AD as Dobreni. Within the Russian Empire it was known under the Russified name Gincheshty (Гинчешты), but in Romanian Hîncești. In 1940 the name was changed to Kotovskoe after Grigore Kotovski, who was born there. But from 1941 to 1944 it was again known as Hîncești. Before WWII, the Jewish community was rather large, in 1930, there were 1,523 Jews living there. In July 1941, Romanian gendarmes murdered more than 100 Jews in a mass execution perpetrated in a trench outside the town. Orhei (; Yiddish ''Uriv'' – אוריװ), also formerly known as Orgeev (russian: Орге́ев), is a city, municipality and the administrative centre of Orhei District in the Moldova, Republic of Moldova, with a population of 21,065. Orhei is approximately north of the capital, Chișinău. History Orhei takes its name from the Hungarian Őrhely, , as it was an outpost of the Hungarian army guarding the ''gyepű''. It was the Ottoman-occupied military center of northern Bessarabia until it was ceded to the Russian Empire in 1812. The word "orhei" was used by local population, meaning "strengthened hill, fortress, deserted courtyard".
