2022–23 Houston Rockets Season
The 2022–23 Houston Rockets season is the 56th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA), and 52nd season in the city of Houston. The team selected Jabari Smith Jr. at third overall, looking to improve on last season's record of 20–62. With their 118-96 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on March 7, 2023, the Houston Rockets were officially eliminated from playoff contention. Draft The Rockets entered the draft holding two first round picks. The 17th overall pick came from the Brooklyn Nets in the James Harden trade. On draft night, Houston traded Wendell Moore Jr., Wendell Moore's draft rights at 26th to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for the draft rights to TyTy Washington at 29th, in addition to two future second-round picks—2025 and 2027. Stephen Silas
Stephen Silas (born August 6, 1973) is an American basketball coach who is the head coach for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is the son of NBA star player and head coach Paul Silas. He worked under his father at the Charlotte Hornets from 2000 to 2002, New Orleans Hornets from 2002 to 2003, and the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2003 to 2005. He also served as an advance scout for the Washington Wizards during the 2005–06 season, and as an assistant coach for the Golden State Warriors from 2006 to 2010, before leaving to rejoin his father in Charlotte where he worked from 2010 until 2018. Tyrone Lewis Washington Jr. (born November 15, 2001) is an American professional basketball player for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the Wisconsin Herd of the NBA G League. FTX Arena (known as American Airlines Arena from 1999 to 2021) is a multi-purpose arena located in Miami, Florida, along Biscayne Bay.
