2022–23 EHF European Cup
The 2022–23 EHF European Cup was the 26th season of Europe's tertiary club handball tournament organised by European Handball Federation (EHF), and the 3rd season since it was renamed from the Challenge Cup to the EHF European Cup. Qualified teams The full list of teams qualified for each stage of the 2022–23 EHF European Cup was announced on 12 July 2022. The labels in the parentheses show how each team qualified for the place of its starting round: *EC: European Cup title holders *CW: Cup winners *CR: Cup runners-up *4th, 5th, etc.: League position of the previous season **SF: Semi-final league position **QF: Quarter-final league position Qualifying rounds Round 1 A total of 26 teams were involved in the first qualifying round. The first leg matches were held on 10–11 September 2022, while the second leg matches were held on 17–18 September 2022. EHF European Cup
The EHF European Cup is an annual men's handball club competition organised by the European Handball Federation (EHF). It is the third-tier competition of European club handball, after the EHF Champions League and the EHF European League. Founded in 1993 as the EHF City Cup, the competition was renamed the EHF Challenge Cup in 2000 before adopting its current name in 2020. History Before 2000, it was called EHF City Cup. KH Besa Famgas is a team handball club from Peja in western Kosovo. KH BESA Famgas competes in the Kosovar Superliga and Cup, and it is one of the most famous handball clubs with traditional titles and champions. History KH Besa Famgas was founded in 1953 in Peja. They competed in the Yugoslav regional camp of Kosovo and in the second Yugoslav league, then still called Buduçnosti. During the Yugoslav era they won the regional championship twice. Handball Club Donbas Donetsk Oblast (Ukrainian: ГК Донбас) (previous name Shakhtar-Academiia until June 2017) is a handball club from Donetsk. The club was formed in 1983 on the base of a previous handball club called Spartak Donetsk. History In 1985 they were promoted to the Soviet Union Handball League. Through the 90's the club one of the leading forces in the Ukrainian Men's Handball Super League, winning the local league 3 times, and between seasons 1994/95-2005/06 the club never finished outside the top 3.
