Reuters ( ) is a news agency owned by Thomson Reuters Corporation. It employs around 2,500 journalists and 600 photojournalists in about 200 locations worldwide. Clare O’Neil
Clare Ellen O'Neil (born 12 September 1980) is an Australian politician who is the Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Cyber Security, since 2022. She is a member of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) and has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2013, representing the Victorian seat of Hotham. O'Neil was elected mayor of the City of Greater Dandenong in 2004, aged 23, becoming the youngest female mayor in Australian history. Before entering federal parliament she worked as a manager at McKinsey & Company. O'Neil was elected to parliament at the 2013 federal election. 2022 Nauruan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Nauru on 24 September 2022 to elect all 19 members of parliament. All candidates were elected on a non-partisan basis. Following the election, Russ Kun, a member of parliament for Ubenide, was elected president by parliament. Background In the 2019 elections, nearly half of the Parliament members lost their seats, including incumbent President Baron Waqa. Justice minister David Adeang, Waqa's deputy, retained his seat. Adeang was a candidate in the following presidential election; he lost to Lionel Aingimea, who had been an assistant minister. The Aingimea government implemented some electoral changes. Potential candidates in regularly scheduled general elections were now required to register their intention 270 days before the end of the parliamentary term. Micronesian Games
The Micronesian Games (or Micro Games, MicroGames) are a quadrennial international multi-sport event within the Micronesian region. The Games were first held in 1969 in Saipan ( Northern Mariana Islands). The 2010 Micronesian Games were initially due to be held in Majuro ( Marshall Islands), until the hosts withdrew. The 2010 Games were hosted by Palau. The Federated States of Micronesia won the bidding to host the 2014 Micronesian Games in Pohnpei State, and later won again against CNMI for the 2018 Micronesian Games to be held in Yap State. Reanna Solomon
Reanna Solomon (16 December 1981 – 1 July 2022) was a Nauruan weightlifter. She was the first female Nauruan athlete to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal, and remains one of the only three Nauruans ever to have won a Commonwealth Games gold, the others being Marcus Stephen and Yukio Peter. Solomon competed in the 2002 Commonwealth Games. She lifted 127.5 kg in the Women's 75 kg+ Clean and Jerk, winning the gold medal, and won another gold medal by lifting 227.5 kg in the Women's 75 kg+ Combined. In the Women's 75 kg+ Snatch she took the bronze, lifting 100 kg. Solomon also took part in the 2004 Summer Olympic Games. Solomon died from COVID-19 on 1 July 2022, at the age of 40. The Oceania Weightlifting Federation released a statement in tribute to her. Her death was the first in Nauru to be caused by COVID-19.
