2022 Women's Pan American Cup
The 2022 Women's Pan American Cup was the sixth edition of the Women's Pan American Cup, the quadrennial international women's field hockey championship of the Americas organized by the Pan American Hockey Federation. It was planned to be held from 7 until 22 August 2021 in Tacarigua, Trinidad and Tobago. However, following the postponement of the 2020 Summer Olympics to July and August 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic the tournament was rescheduled and on 4 September 2020 the hosts Trinidad and Tobago withdrew from hosting the tournament. Argentina were the defending champions, winning the 2017 edition. They defended their title after a final win over Chile. The top three teams qualified for the 2022 FIH Hockey World Cup. María Jesús Maldonado Maira (born 13 August 1997) is a Chilean field hockey player. Maldonado made her international debut for the Chile senior team in 2017 at a test series in Cape Town, South Africa. Maldonado made her junior debut at the 2016 Pan-Am Junior Championship, where the team won a bronze medal. Ayanna McClean
Ayanna McClean is a hockey umpire from Trinidad and Tobago and former defender for the Trinidad and Tobago women's national field hockey team. She is the second person from the Caribbean to be qualified to umpire at a World Cup or Olympic tournament, after Roger St Rose, and the first woman. She is the daughter of Cherril Franco, who was the first woman from Trinidad and Tobago to become an FIH Grade One umpire. Playing career McClean started playing hockey when she was 11.
