The 2022 UCI World Tour was a series of races that included thirty-one road bicycle racing, road cycling events throughout the 2022 in men's road cycling, 2022 cycling season. The tour started with the 2022 UAE Tour, UAE Tour on 20 February, and concluded with the 2022 Il Lombardia, Il Lombardia on 8 October. Events The 2022 calendar was announced in the autumn of 2021. Cancelled events Due to COVID-19 pandemic, COVID-19-related logistical concerns raised by teams regarding travel to Australia (including strict quarantine requirements), the Tour Down Under (18–23 January) and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race (30 January) were cancelled. On 8 June 2022, the Benelux Tour (29 August – 4 September) was cancelled due to a pressurised calendar. On 17 June 2022, the Tour of Guangxi (13–18 October) was also cancelled due to travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Sergio Higuita
Sergio Andrés Higuita García (born 1 August 1997) is a Colombian professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career He moved to EF Education First from UCI Continental team in May 2019, having initially been set to join in the summer. In August 2019, he was named in the startlist for the 2019 Vuelta a España. In early 2020 he finished 3rd in Paris-Nice and won the best young rider jersey. In August 2020, he was named in the startlist for the 2020 Tour de France. He did not finish the Tour but the following year he placed 25th overall. Higuita moved to Bora–Hansgrohe for the 2022 season. On stage 6 of the 2022 Volta a Catalunya he went on a long distance attack with Richard Carapaz. The pair stayed away for over 100 kilometers and Higuita moved into the leader's jersey. Tim Wellens (born 10 May 1991) is a Belgian professional road cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He is the son of former racing cyclist Leo Wellens and the nephew of cyclists Paul and Johan Wellens. Quinn Simmons (born May 8, 2001) is an American road cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Simmons' first sport was ski mountaineering, for which he won the bronze medal in the cadet category in the 2017 World Championships. After switching to road cycling, he won the 2019 world junior road race championships, and the 2018 US junior national road race and time trial championships. On July 22, 2021, Simmons took his first professional victory on Stage 3 of the Tour de Wallonie, taking the overall lead in the process. He managed to maintain his lead until the race's conclusion to win his first professional stage race. Simmons made his Grand Tour debut in the 2021 Vuelta a España. Jhonatan Manuel Narváez Prado (born 4 March 1997) is an Ecuadorian professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Originally from El Playón de San Francisco in Ecuador's Sucumbíos Canton, whilst at school Narváez was a member of a cycling club founded by one of his teachers, former Olympic racing cyclist Juan Carlos Rosero.
