2022 South Carolina Gamecocks Baseball Team
The 2022 South Carolina Gamecocks baseball team represents the University of South Carolina in the 2022 NCAA Division I baseball season. The 2022 season marks the Gamecocks' 129th overall. The Gamecocks play their home games at Founders Park, and are led by fifth year head coach Mark Kingston. Previous season The Gamecocks finished 34–23, 16–14 in the SEC, losing in the Columbia Regional to Virginia. Mark Kingston (baseball)
Mark Kingston (born May 16, 1970) is an American college baseball coach. He is currently the head coach at the University of South Carolina. He was previously the head coach at the University of South Florida and Illinois State University. Playing career Kingston played high school baseball at Potomac High School in Dumfries, Virginia where he was a Collegiate Baseball Top 50 recruit, and was drafted out of high school by the New York Yankees in the 35th round of the 1988 MLB Draft. Choosing instead to play college ball at North Carolina, he played four seasons, helping the team to an Atlantic Coast Conference regular season title and berth in the 1989 College World Series in his freshman year. He was drafted in the 45th round of the 1992 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. Chapin, popularly known as the "Capital of Lake Murray", is a small lake town located at the northern tip of Lexington County, South Carolina, United States. Lake Murray separates Chapin from the rest of Lexington County. The population of Chapin was 1,445 according to the 2010 census, and an estimated 1,633 in 2019. Tyrone is a town in Fayette County, Georgia, United States. The population was 6,879 at the 2010 census, up from 3,916 in 2000. The estimated population in 2018 was 7,388. Melville is an affluent hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Huntington in Suffolk County on Long Island, New York. The population was 19,284 at the 2020 census.
