2022 RAN Women's Sevens Qualifiers
The 2022 RAN Women's Sevens Qualifiers are a North American rugby sevens tournament that took place at the Thomas Robinson Stadium, Nassau on April 23 and 24, 2022; they were held in The Bahamas for the third time. Owing to the postponement of the 2022 RAN Women's Super Sevens (originally scheduled to be held in Mexico City during February 2022), this event was created specifically to maintain a qualification pathway to the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens, with one place awarded to the winner only. Five teams participated in the tournament, including 2019 champions Mexico. Format All five teams contest a ten-match round-robin over two days, with each team playing four matches. Upon conclusion of the round-robin, the top two teams from the pool advance to the final, while the third/fourth-ranked teams progress to the third-place match. Rugby Americas North, abbreviated as RAN, is the governing body for rugby union in the North American continental region. Rugby Americas North operates under the authority of World Rugby, and is one of six regional unions represented within it. Prior to 2016, the organisation was known as NACRA – the North America Caribbean Rugby Association. The preceding body before 2010 was NAWIRA – the North America and West Indies Rugby Association. The main objective of RAN is the promotion and development of rugby in North America and the Caribbean. The Rugby Americas North Sevens is the rugby sevens competition for the confederation of North American and Caribbean rugby. It periodically serves as the regional qualifying competition for the World Cup Sevens and the Rugby sevens at the Olympics. 2021–22 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series
The 2021–22 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series was the ninth edition of the global circuit for women's national rugby sevens teams, organised by World Rugby. The ninth edition was meant to be played a year earlier, but the 2021 Series was cancelled due to impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Australia won the series at the second-last event in Canada, winning four out of the six events on the tour to claim their third World Series title. France, Fiji and Ireland placed second, third and fourth, respectively, which was the best finish achieved by all three teams in the World Series. The 2021–22 series was affected by ongoing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, with two of the eleven core teams not able to compete in all six events as a result. The 2019 RAN Women's Sevens was the 15th edition of the annual rugby sevens tournament organized by Rugby Americas North. It was played at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex in George Town, Cayman Islands. Six national teams played a round robin. 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens
The 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the eighth edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens organised by World Rugby. The 2022 tournament, comprising 24 men's and 16 women's teams as previously, was played over three days in one venue in September.
