2022 Perak State Election
The 2022 Perak state election, formally the 15th Perak state election, took place on 19 November 2022. This election was to elect 59 members of the 15th Perak State Legislative Assembly. The previous assembly was dissolved on 17 October 2022. The results of the election resulted in a hung assembly, Perikatan Nasional (PN) won 26 seats, Pakatan Harapan (PH) won 24 while the incumbent Barisan Nasional (BN) which led the administration before election, only won 9. However, two days after the election, caretaker Menteri Besar Saarani Mohammad was reappointed to the position and the state government was formed on 21 November 2022 after the agreement of BN and PH to form the coalition government, it exceeded the simple majority support of 30 members of the assembly (MLAs) required to form the state government. Perak State Legislative Assembly
The Perak State Legislative Assembly ( ms, Dewan Negeri Perak) is the unicameral state legislature of the Malaysian state of Perak. It is composed of 59 members representing single-member constituencies throughout the state. Elections are held no more than five years apart, along with elections to the federal parliament and other state assemblies. The Assembly convenes at the Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan in the state capital, Ipoh. At 59 seats, it is the largest state assembly among the 11 legislatures of the States of Malaya. Coalition Government
A coalition government is a form of government in which political parties cooperate to form a government. The usual reason for such an arrangement is that no single party has achieved an absolute majority after an election, an atypical outcome in nations with majoritarian electoral systems, but common under proportional representation. A coalition government might also be created in a time of national difficulty or crisis (for example, during wartime or economic crisis) to give a government the high degree of perceived political legitimacy or collective identity, it can also play a role in diminishing internal political strife. Terence Naidu
Terence Naidu is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Perak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Pasir Bedamar from May 2013 to November 2022. He is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. Prior to political career (before 2013) He hailed from the state of Perak. Ko Chung Sen
Dr. Ko Chung Sen (; born 1968) is a Malaysian surgeon and politician of Chinese descent. He was the Perak State Legislative Assemblyman for Kepayang from 2018 to 2022. He is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. A surgeon by profession, he received BAO ''cum laude'' from Trinity College in Dublin. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1999. Ko returned to Malaysia to work as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon in Penang General Hospital in 2001 and worked there until 2004. He then moved to Ipoh to work in KPJ Specialist Hospital and has been there since then. He was elected to the parliament for Kampar constituency in the 2013 election. Paul Yong Choo Kiong
Paul Yong Choo Kiong (; born 23 September 1970), is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Perak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Tronoh from May 2013 to November 2022 and Member of the Perak State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administration under former Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu from May 2018 to the collapse of the PH state administration in March 2020.
