2022 Paraguayan División Intermedia
The 2022 División Intermedia season, named ''"Homenaje al Doctor Luis Lezcano Pastore y al Escribano Julio César Ortiz Duarte"'', was the 104th season of the second-tier league of Paraguayan football and 25th under the Paraguayan División Intermedia name. The season began on 1 April and ended on 11 October 2022. The fixtures for the season were announced on 15 December 2021. Sportivo Trinidense and Sportivo Luqueño ensured their promotion to the Paraguayan Primera División with two matches in hand; the former by drawing 1–1 with 2 de Mayo at home on 25 September 2022, while the latter clinched promotion with a 1–0 victory against Atlético Colegiales coupled with a 2–0 loss for Pastoreo against Fernando de la Mora the following day. Sportivo Trinidense ended up clinching the tournament's title the following weekend, with a win over Atlético Colegiales and a loss for Sportivo Luqueño against San Lorenzo. The División Intermedia ( en, Intermediate Division), also known as the Segunda División ( en, Second Division), is the second tier professional football league in Paraguay. It is organized by the Asociación Paraguaya de Fútbol. Overview Since 1910 the second division tournaments have changed rules, number of teams and names. As of 2006, División Intermedia is the name for the second division and 16 teams are part of it. The champion and the runner-up of this league gains the right to participate in the Liga Paraguaya: Primera División, the Paraguay's top division of football. Club Rubio Ñu is a Paraguayan football club based in the Barrio Santísima Trinidad of Asunción. The club was founded August 24, 1913 and plays in the División Intermedia, the second division of the Paraguayan football league. Atyrá is one of the oldest cities of Paraguay, alongside Yaguarón, Villarrica, Encarnación, Pilar, San Lorenzo, Humaitá among others. The 2021 División Profesional season (officially the Copa de Primera TIGO-Visión Banco 2021 for sponsorship reasons) was the 87th season of the Paraguayan Primera División, the top-flight professional football league in Paraguay. The season began on 5 February and ended on 5 December 2021. The fixtures for the season were announced on 15 January 2021. Olimpia were the defending champions after winning the 2020 Clausura tournament.
