2022 Offaly Senior Hurling Championship
The 2022 Offaly Senior Hurling Championship was the 124th staging of the Offaly Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Offaly County Board in 1896. The group stage placings were confirmed on 28 May 2021. The championship ran from 24 June to 2 October 2022. St Rynagh's entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Shinrone in the quarter-finals. Clodiagh Gaels were relegated after losing a playoff to Seir Kieran. O'Connor Park
O'Connor Park ( ga, Páirc Uí Chonchúir) is a GAA stadium in Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland. It is one of the principal grounds of the Offaly GAA Gaelic football and hurling teams. It is known for sponsorship reasons as Bord na Móna O’Connor Park. The ground was opened in 1934, to replace Ballyduff Park, and currently has a capacity of 18,000. The ground currently consists of a covered stand on one side of the pitch, with terracing on the other three. A stand was built in 1991, but replaced by the current structure in 2006. The stand (currently known as the 'New Stand' pending decision on a new name) was completed in 2006. It seats 7,000 people and also includes a press box and a special section for wheelchair users. Jason Sampson
Jason Sampson (born February 21, 1982) is an American professional mixed martial artist currently competing in the flyweight division of Legacy FC. A professional competitor since 2009, Sampson has previously competed for Bellator and Shark Fights. Background Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Sampson, along with his two brothers, competed in wrestling. Sampson began wrestling at the age of 12 and wrestled at MacArthur High School. Sampson was talented, earning three state titles, and continued his wrestling career at The Apprentice School in Newport News, Virginia, where he earned NCWA All-American honors. Sampson was involved in a freak accident during his collegiate career in which his opponent broke his neck and became paralyzed despite Sampson using a legal move. Brian Carroll (hurler)
Brian Carroll (born 13 June 1983) is an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-forward for the Offaly senior team. Born in Coolderry, County Offaly, Carroll was introduced to hurling by his father, Pat Carroll, a two-time All-Ireland medallist with Offaly. His grandfather, Jack Carroll, and his great-grandfather, "Red" Jack Teehan, also played hurling at various levels with Offaly. Carroll enjoyed All-Ireland success at colleges level with St. Kieran's College while simultaneously enjoying championship successes at underage levels with the Coolderry club. A one-time All-Ireland runner-up with the Coolderry senior team, Carroll has won one Leinster medal and five championship medals. Carroll made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Offaly minor team. A Leinster medallist in this grade, he later played with the under-21 team. Brian Duignan
Brian Duignan (; born 2000) is an Irish hurler who plays for Offaly Championship club Ballinamere and at inter-county level with the Offaly senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a forward. Career Son of Offaly All-Ireland-winner Michael Duignan, he first came to hurling prominence with the combined Ballinamere/Durrow club at juvenile and underage levels, while simultaneously lining out as a schoolboy with Coláiste Choilm in Tullamore. Joe Bergin (hurler)
Joseph Bergin (born 22 September 1987) is an Irish hurler who plays for Offaly Championship club Seir Kieran. He was a member of the Offaly senior hurling team for 14 seasons, during which time he usually lined out as a full-forward. Playing career Seir Kieran Bergin joined the Seir Kieran club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels, enjoying championship success in the under-21 grade in 2008. Offaly Minor and under-21 Bergin first played for Offaly as a member of the minor team during the 2004 Leinster Championship. He made his first appearance on 10 April when he came on as a 23rd-minute substitute for Colin O'Meara in a 0-14 to 1-10 defeat of Laois. Bergin was again eligible for the minor team for the 2005 Leinster Championship, however, his tenure in the grade ended without success. St Brendan's Park
St Brendan's Park () is a GAA stadium in Birr, County Offaly, Ireland. It is one of the main grounds of Offaly's Gaelic football and hurling teams. The ground has a capacity of 8,800. Prior to the development of O'Connor Park in Tullamore, the ground was the base of Offaly hurling and played host to intercounty competitions and to the Offaly hurling county final. Most Offaly games have since transferred to Tullamore. Saint Brendan's Park is the home ground of the town’s GAA club. It is located on the south side of the town on Railway Road. The site was also the venue of the 1971 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semi-final between Tipperary and Galway. 15,022 crammed into the venue to watch Tipperary see off Galway in a high scoring match. Coolderry GAA
Coolderry GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Coolderry in County Offaly, Ireland. The club is the most successful side in the Offaly Senior Hurling Championship with a record 31 titles. Its facilities include a clubhouse with four dressing rooms, floodlights, ball wall, two pitches, a running track and a gym. Its most recent win was 2018 beating Kilcormac Kiloughey. History The club was founded in the early 1880s. Coolderry's first victory was in 1890 when Coolderry beat Kilcormac, but Offaly was not at that time affiliated to the central body, the win was not officially recognised. Ferbane/Belmont GAA is a football club in the Gaelic Athletic Association located in Ferbane in County Offaly, Ireland, 13 miles from Birr. The Ferbane GAA field is located in the town of Ferbane on the Ballycumber Road. Ferbane play in the Offaly championship.
