2022 Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2022 Nova Scotia Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Nova Scotia, was held from December 8 to 11, 2021 at the Berwick Curling Club in Berwick, Nova Scotia. The winning Christina Black team will represent Nova Scotia at the 2022 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Unlike previous seasons, there was no preliminary round to qualify eight teams for the provincial championship. Any team was able to register to compete in the championship. Berwick, Nova Scotia
Berwick is a Canadian town in Kings County, Nova Scotia. The town is located in the eastern part of the Annapolis Valley on the Cornwallis River. The town site stretches south from the river and Exit 15 of Highway 101 to Highway 1. Berwick occupies 6.80 km2 (2.6 sq mi) and has an elevation of 43 m (141 ft) above sea level. History As the headwaters of the Cornwallis River, Berwick was used by Nova Scotia's Mi'kmaq people and later Acadians as a crossing place between the Cornwallis and the Annapolis River which rises to the west. Acadians built a rough road between the two rivers just to the south of the town, a route which after British settlement became The Post Road or Highway No. 1 the main road connected western communities in Nova Scotia. The Berwick area was granted to several New England Planter families in 1760 but the community was not settled until 1810 when Benjamin Congdon built on the townsite. Jennifer Crouse (curler)
Jennifer "JC" Lee Crouse (born January 23, 1980 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian curler from Timberlea, Nova Scotia. Career Crouse would win her first provincial title with Nancy McConnery defeating Mary-Anne Arsenault in 2009 throwing third rocks earning the right to represent Nova Scotia at the 2009 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Unfortunately the team would not make playoffs at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts finishing with a disappointing 2-9 record. The following year Crouse won a second provincial title with Nancy McConnery, defeating Mary-Anne Arsenault in 2010 and the right to represent Nova Scotia at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts again the team ended up with another disappointing finish at nationals at 1-10. The McConnery team disbanded the end of the 2010 season. Kim Kelly (born April 4, 1962 in Halifax, Nova Scotia as Kim Ackles) is a Canadian curler from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She currently throws skip stones for Colleen Jones, whom she has won five national championships and two world championships. In 2019, Kelly was named the eighth greatest Canadian curler in history in a TSN poll of broadcasters, reporters and top curlers. Kelly had retired from competitive curling in 2006 but returned in 2010 playing third for Nancy Delahunt, failing to secure a spot in the provincial playdowns. She would then go on to join former teammate Mary-Anne Arsenault, playing the second position for the 2011–12 season. Erin Carmody
Erin Carmody (born August 4, 1988) is a Canadian curler, originally from Prince Edward Island but residing in Halifax, Nova Scotia as of 2019. As of 2022, she plays third on Team Sarah Murphy. A native of the city of Summerside, Carmody was a biology student at the University of Prince Edward Island when she broke onto the curling scene by winning three consecutive provincial junior championships, twice with an undefeated record. She entered the national scene in 2010 after forming a rink with longtime teammate Geri-Lynn Ramsay and veteran curlers Kathy O'Rourke and Trisha Affleck that captured the 2010 provincial championships at the senior level.
