2022 Nong Bua Lamphu Attack
On 6 October 2022, 34-year-old Panya Khamrab killed 36 people and injured 10 others by shooting, stabbing, and vehicle-ramming in Nong Bua Lamphu province, Thailand, before killing himself. The attack mainly occurred in a children's nursery located in the Uthai Sawan subdistrict of the Na Klang district. It is the deadliest mass murder by a single perpetrator in the modern history of Thailand, surpassing the death toll of the Nakhon Ratchasima shootings in 2020. Attack On 6 October 2022, at around 11:24 ICT (UTC+7), the assailant, Panya Khamrab, drove a white pickup truck out of his residence. Na Klang District
Na Klang ( th, นากลาง; ) is a district ('' amphoe'') of Nong Bua Lamphu province, northeastern Thailand. History The district was created as a minor district (''king amphoe'') on 16 July 1965, when the three ''tambons'' Na Klang, Kao Kloi, and Na Si were split from Nong Bua Lamphu District. It was upgraded to a full district in 1969. 9×19mm Parabellum
The 9×19mm Parabellum (also known as 9mm Parabellum or 9mm Luger or simply 9mm) is a rimless, tapered firearms cartridge. Originally designed by Austrian firearm designer Georg Luger in 1901, it is widely considered the most popular handgun and submachine gun cartridge due to its low cost and extensive availability. ''Kom Chad Luek'' ( th, คมชัดลึก, , , ) is a mass-circulation Thai-language daily newspaper launched in 2001 and published in Bangkok, Thailand, by the Nation Group. Its circulation is in the 500,000–900,000 range. Controversy ''Kom Chad Luek'' became the target of mass protests after it printed an article on 24 March 2006 that omitted part of a quote by anti-government protest leader Sondhi Limthongkul, with the misquote suggesting Sondhi wanted King Bhumibol Adulyadej to abdicate, which was viewed as an insult to the king, or lèse majesté, which is a crime in Thailand. A vehicle-ramming attack is an assault in which a perpetrator deliberately rams a vehicle into a building, crowd of people, or another vehicle. According to Stratfor Global Intelligence analysts, this attack represents a relatively new militant tactic that could prove more difficult to prevent than suicide bombings.
