The 2022 New Smyrna Visitors Bureau 200 was an NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race that was held on February 12, 2022. It was contested over 200 laps on the short track. 2022 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
The 2022 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was the thirty-eighth season of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, a stock car racing tour sanctioned by NASCAR. It began with the New Smyrna Visitors Bureau 200 at New Smyrna Speedway on February 12 and ended with the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 200 at Martinsville Speedway on October 27. Justin Bonsignore entered the season as the defending series champion. Jon McKennedy won his first championship in the series in 2022. Schedule On November 3, 2021, NASCAR announced the 2022 Whelen Modified Tour schedule. There are 16 scheduled races for the season which includes an inaugural stop at New Smyrna Speedway. New Smyrna Speedway
New Smyrna Speedway is a 1/2-mile asphalt oval racetrack located near New Smyrna Beach, Florida, that races the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series every Saturday night. It also has a smaller track, known as "Little New Smyrna Speedway" in the infield. This track races quarter midgets on Friday nights. Overview New Smyrna Speedway hosts the annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing, featuring nine consecutive nights of racing that runs during Speedweeks every February. NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) (previously the NASCAR Winston Modified Tour and NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series from 1985 until 2005) is a modified stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR in the Modified Division. The Modified Division is NASCAR's oldest division, and is the only open-wheeled division that NASCAR sanctions. NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events are mainly held in the northeastern United States, but the 2007 and 2008 tours expanded to the Midwest with the addition of a race in Mansfield, Ohio. Melissa Fifield (born August 7, 1992) is an American racing driver and spokesperson. She primarily races in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, driving the No. 01 Chevrolet for her family-owned team. Joseph Coulter (born June 8, 1990) is an American professional stock car racing driver. Racing career Early career A native of Miami Springs, Florida, Coulter started his racing career in 1998, racing go-karts at West Coast Kart way in Naples, Florida. In 1999, Coulter entered the national Karting circuit in the WKA Horstman Gold Cup series while he was still competing in the Florida WKA Championship series. Ryan Preece
Ryan Jeffrey Preece (born October 25, 1990) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 41 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing. Preece previously competed in what is now the ARCA Menards Series East and West. Patrick W. Emerling (born September 19, 1992) is an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. He competes part-time in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, driving the No. 07 Chevrolet for his own team, Emerling Motorsports, as well as part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 35 Chevrolet Camaro/Toyota Supra for Emerling-Gase Motorsports, a team that he co-owns with fellow driver Joey Gase. James Robert Blewett (born August 26, 1980) is a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver. He is the younger brother of the late John Blewett III. Spencer Scott Davis (born November 29, 1998) is an American professional stock car racing driver who last competed part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, driving the No. 11 Toyota Tundra for his own team Spencer Davis Motorsports. Justin Bonsignore (born February 3, 1988) is an American racing driver who competes in NASCAR's Whelen Modified Tour and various other local racing circuits. He currently drives for Kenneth Massa Motorsports. Early career and go-karts Bonsignore began his racing career with go-karts at the age of 8. His family has long owned and operated a Kart Racing Shop, and this early exposure to the racing circuit paved the way for a career in racing. In 1997, Bonsignore competed for his first national event at the Rockingham Speedway, in North Carolina, where he finished 13th.
