2022 National Premier Soccer League Season
The 2022 National Premier Soccer League season was the 20th season of the National Premier Soccer League and part of the 110th season of FIFA-sanctioned soccer in the United States. The regular season began on March 19 and ended on July 16. In total, 92 teams participated in this season. Format changes The Northwest and Southwest Conferences merged to form the Pacific Conference while the Golden Gate Conference returned to traditional league play. The Lone Star Conference returned to the South Region after temporarily joining the West in 2021. National Premier Soccer League
The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is an American men's association football, soccer league. The NPSL is a semi-professional league, comprising some teams that have paid players and some that are entirely amateur. The league is officially affiliated to the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and has automatic qualification for the U.S. Open Cup. It is the successor of the Men's Premier Soccer League, a regional league originally based in the Western United States, which has now expanded nationwide to encompass teams from 29 states. The league's motto is "A National League with a Regional Focus". Competition format The National Premier Soccer League is divided into four separate regions (Northeast, South, Midwest, and West). Each region is divided into conferences with a varying number of teams per conference. Philadelphia Lone Star Football Club is an American professional development soccer club based in Southwest Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that competes in USL League Two and the National Premier Soccer League, both leagues which sit in the fourth tier of the American soccer pyramid. Nicknamed "the Stars", the club was founded as Junior Lone Star Football Club in 2001, but changed its name to Philadelphia Lone Star F.C. in 2018. History Philadelphia Lone Star F.C. was established in 2001 under the name of Junior Lone Star Football Club by a group of Liberian American immigrant soccer players. Lubbock Matadors SC is an American soccer club in Lubbock, Texas. It currently competes in the Lonestar Conference of the National Premier Soccer League, considered the fourth tier of the United States soccer league system. The team's home field is the Lubbock Cooper's Pirate Stadium in Lubbock. History On December 14, 2021, the National Premier Soccer League announced a new expansion team would be placed in Lubbock for the 2022 season. The ownership effort was led by former DC United and FC Dallas front office member Michael Hitchcock, along with Texas Tech alumni Brent McCarty, David Joyner, Eric Cunningham, and Lance Patton. Club Atletico Saint Louis is an American soccer team based in St. Louis, Missouri. It plays within the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), a national amateur league at the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the South Region's Heartland Conference. Akron City FC is an American soccer club based in Akron, Ohio, United States. Founded in 2021, the men's team plays in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), a national semi-pro league at the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the Rust Belt Conference of the Midwest Region. 2021 National Premier Soccer League Season
The 2021 National Premier Soccer League season is the 19th season of the National Premier Soccer League and part of the 109th season of FIFA-sanctioned soccer in the United States. The 2020 season was cancelled after five weeks of play due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Miami FC, the defending league champions from 2019, left in the previous off-season and joined the National Independent Soccer Association and later the USL Championship. The regular season started on May 1 and scheduled to conclude on July 17. There are 76 teams participating in this season with a further 14 playing in conferences that decided not to participate in the summer season. Format changes The 2021 season saw a number of changes with many in part due to the ongoing effects of the pandemic. Both the Northwest and Golden Gate Conference will not take part in traditional summer season. Tallahassee Soccer Club is an American soccer club based in Tallahassee, Florida that competes in the National Premier Soccer League. It formerly played in the Gulf Coast Premier League. History Tallahassee SC was founded on May 3, 2018, by residents of Tallahassee, FL, Leon County, FL including Chris Petley, Mike Bonfanti and 4 others looking to bring a semi-professional soccer team to Tallahassee. In February 2019, Josh Bruno was named as the first head coach of the team. The club played its first ever match against the Savannah Clovers on May 4, 2019, in front of over 600 fans at the FSU Intramural Fields.
