2022 NWSL Draft
The 2022 NWSL Draft was the 10th annual meeting of National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) franchises to select eligible college players. It was held on December 18, 2021, and hosted remotely by CBS Sports. Format * All 12 teams of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) take turns making their selections over four rounds, with 12 picks per round plus any additional compensatory picks. Draft order in each round was determined by the reverse order of the final 2021 regular season standings, with the exceptions being Angel City FC and San Diego Wave FC taking the first two selections as expansion teams and the two teams that contested the 2021 Championship game, Washington Spirit and Chicago Red Stars, taking the last two selections. * After winning a coin flip, San Diego Wave FC selected priority in the NWSL Draft. NWSL Challenge Cup
The NWSL Challenge Cup, currently known as the UKG NWSL Challenge Cup for sponsorship reasons, is an annual tournament organized by the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the top-tier women's league in the United States soccer league system. The tournament is open to all NWSL teams. The NWSL Challenge Cup was first held in 2020 as a one-off tournament to mark the league's return to action from the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first top-tier professional sports league in the United States to restart after COVID-19 lockdowns began. Savannah McCaskill
Savannah Elizabeth McCaskill (born July 31, 1996) is an American soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Angel City FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States national team. Early life McCaskill was raised in Chapin, South Carolina, where she attended Irmo High School. She was twice-named to the All-State team and was the team's highest-scoring player in 2012 with 33 goals. Jessica Marie McDonald (born February 28, 1988) is an American professional soccer player for Racing Louisville FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's professional soccer in the United States, and the United States women's national soccer team. Virginia Tech Hokies Women's Soccer
The Virginia Tech Hokies women's soccer team began in 1980 with two club teams under the guidance of Everett Germain and his two daughter's Betsy and Julie. Virginia Tech's women's soccer became a college soccer program that competes in NCAA Division I in 1993. Kiara Shaelene "Kiki" Pickett (born April 30, 1999) is an American professional soccer player who plays for North Carolina Courage in the National Women's Soccer League. She was drafted fourth overall in the 2021 NWSL Draft by Kansas City, who sent $175,000 in allocation money to Sky Blue FC (since renamed NJ/NY Gotham FC) in exchange for the draft pick. The North Carolina Courage is a professional women's soccer team based in Cary, North Carolina.
