2022 Michigan Wolverines Football Team
The 2022 Michigan Wolverines football team represented the University of Michigan in the East Division of the Big Ten Conference during the 2022 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Led by eighth-year head coach Jim Harbaugh, the Wolverines compiled an overall record of 12–0 in the regular season with a mark of 9–0 in conference play, winning the Big Ten East Division title for the second consecutive season. Michigan beat Purdue in the Big Ten Championship Game to repeat as conference champions. The Big Ten Conference (stylized B1G, formerly the Western Conference and the Big Nine Conference) is the oldest Division I collegiate athletic conference in the United States. The 2022 Fiesta Bowl is a college football bowl game that is scheduled to be played on December 31, 2022, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Michael Morris Jr. (born April 22, 2001) is an American football defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Michigan. The Dave Rimington Trophy is awarded to the player considered to be the best American football center in college football. Dave Rimington was a center who played at the University of Nebraska from 1979 to 1982. Outland Trophy
The Outland Trophy is awarded to the best college football interior lineman in the United States as adjudged by the Football Writers Association of America. It is named after John H. Outland. One of only a few players ever to be named an All-American at two positions, Outland garnered consensus All-America honors in 1898 as a tackle and consensus honors as a halfback in 1899. Olusegun Oluwatimi (born August 5, 1999) is an American football center for the Michigan Wolverines. He previously attended the University of Virginia, playing college football for the Virginia Cavaliers before graduating with a degree in economics in 2021. Oluwatimi played a final year as a graduate student for the Wolverines at the University of Michigan in 2022, where he won the Rimington and Outland Trophy. The Chicago Tribune Silver Football is awarded by the ''Chicago Tribune'' to the college football player determined to be the best player from the Big Ten Conference. The award has been presented annually since 1924, when Red Grange of Illinois was the award's first recipient. A vote of Big Ten head football coaches determines the winner of the Silver Football. Each coach submits a two-player ballot with a first and second choice, and coaches cannot vote for players on their own team.
