2022 Miami Dolphins Season
The 2022 season will be the Miami Dolphins' 53rd in the National Football League (NFL), their 57th overall, their first under new head coach Mike McDaniel, and seventh under general manager Chris Grier. The Dolphins will attempt to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016, win the AFC East for the first time since 2008, and finish with 3 straight winning seasons for the first time since the 2001– 2003 seasons. For the first time since 2014, long-time wide receiver DeVante Parker will not be on the roster, as he was traded to the New England Patriots on April 2, 2022. Parker was previously the longest tenured player on the roster, and his departure made cornerback Xavien Howard, who had been with the Dolphins since 2016, the team's new longest tenured player. The 2022 season will also mark the first time since 2017 that the Dolphins play on Sunday Night Football and the first time since 2006 that they play on Christmas Day. Mike McDaniel
Michael Lee McDaniel (born March 6, 1983) is an American football coach and the head coach of the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). A former long-time assistant to Mike and Kyle Shanahan, McDaniel began his NFL coaching career as an intern for the Denver Broncos in 2005. As an offensive-minded coach for much of his 17-year coaching career, McDaniel has served as an assistant coach for the Houston Texans, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, and San Francisco 49ers from 2017 to 2021, holding his first offensive coordinator position in 2021. McDaniel has appeared in two Super Bowls, first with the Falcons in 2017 then with the 49ers in 2020. McDaniel spent five seasons with the 49ers, mostly as the run game coordinator. Xavien Howard
Xavien Howard (born July 4, 1993) is an American football cornerback for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Baylor and was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Dolphins. Early years Howard was born on July 4, 1993 and grew up in the Fifth Ward area of Houston, Texas. He attended and played football at Wheatley High School in the city, where he was teammates with fellow NFL cornerback William Jackson III. He committed to Baylor University to play college football. College career Howard played at Baylor from 2012 to 2015. During his career, he had 98 tackles, 10 interceptions 1.5 sacks, and one touchdown. Skylar Thompson
Skylar John Thompson (born June 4, 1997) is an American football quarterback for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Kansas State and was drafted by the Dolphins in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Early life Thompson was born to Brad Thompson and Teresa Thompson in Palmyra, Missouri on June 4, 1997. His mother Teresa was diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer and died in 2004 when Thompson was just six years old. Thompson also lost his grandfather, John Thompson, in 2003 to pancreatic cancer. Thompson was a four-year letterer and starting quarterback, punter, and kicker at Fort Osage High School in Independence, Missouri. Erik Ezukanma
Chukwuerika "Erik" Ezukanma ( ; born January 25, 2000) is an American football wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Texas Tech. High school career Ezukanma attended Timber Creek High School in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2015, as a sophomore, he was a second-team all-district selection. The next year, Ezukanma was an AP 6A first-team all-state selection and was named the District 3-6A Offensive MVP.
