2022 European Le Mans Series
The 2022 European Le Mans Series was the nineteenth season of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest's (ACO) European Le Mans Series. The six-event season began at Circuit Paul Ricard on 17 April and finished at Algarve International Circuit on 16 October. The series is open to Le Mans Prototypes, divided into the LMP2 and LMP3 classes, and grand tourer-style racing cars in the LMGTE class. Calendar The provisional calendar for the 2022 season was announced on 17 September 2021. The Imola Circuit will return to the series after a 6-year absence, while the Red Bull Ring will not feature on the calendar. On 28 February 2022, it was announced that a round at the Hungaroring would be replaced by the Monza Circuit. The Monza Circuit ( it, Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, , National Automobile Racetrack of Monza) is a race track near the city of Monza, north of Milan, in Italy. Built in 1922, it was the world's third purpose-built motor racing circuit after Brooklands and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Indianapolis and the oldest in mainland Europe. Ligier JS2 R
The Ligier JS2 R is a racing car manufactured by French automobile manufacturer Ligier. Designed to solely be destined for racing with no road-legal version planned, the car is a homage to the original Ligier JS2 introduced in 1972. Model information The JS2 R was introduced at the 2018 Paris Motor Show at the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the company. It is inspired by the Ligier JS2 which was introduced in 1972 and was cited as the car having the best power-to-weight ratio of the time and superior driving dynamics. The original JS2 finished second at the 1975 24 Hours of Le Mans in its class. The JS2 R borrows many design cues from the JS2. Yvan Muller (born 16 August 1969 in Altkirch, Haut-Rhin) is a French auto racing driver most noted for success in touring car racing. Steve Zacchia (born 15 August 1982 in Yverdon-les-Bains) is a Swiss racing driver, currently competing in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup for Hope Racing. Early career Zacchia began go-karting in 1998 when he finished fourth in the Swiss Regional Championship in Category B. He raced in Category A in 1999 finishing third in the standings.
