Lakki Marwat or Lakki (Urdu and ps, ) is the headquarters of Lakki Marwat District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Lakki Marwat ( ps, لکی مروت ولسوالۍ, ur, ) is a district in Bannu Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. It was created as an administrative district on July 1, 1992, prior to which it was a tehsil of Bannu District. Geography The district is located in the southern part of Khyber Paktunkhwa. It borders Karak, Bannu and South Waziristan districts to the north, Tank district to the west, Dera Ismail Khan district to the south, and Mianwali district of Punjab to the west. The district is a combination of hills and sandy plains. The hilly areas are along the boundaries of the district especially in the east, southeast, southwest and northwest. 2023 Lakki Marwat Terrorist Attack
On 29 March 2023, a terrorist attack occurred on the Saddar Police Station in Lakki Marwat, a city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The attack resulted in the killing of four policemen, including Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Iqbal Mohmand, and injuring six other cops. The attack was carried out by militants who fled the scene after the attack, and a search operation was launched to apprehend them. Background The DSP and his team were on their way to assist the embattled cops at the police station when their car was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) near Pirwala Morr. Apart from the DSP, three other policemen, Karamat, Waqar, and Ali Marjan, were also martyred in the blast. The 2010 Lakki Marwat suicide bombing occurred on 1 January 2010, in the village of Shah Hassan Khel, Lakki Marwat District, in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. At least 105 people died and over 100 were injured, many of them critically, when the suicide bomber blew up his sport utility vehicle filled with explosives in the middle of a crowd that had gathered to watch a volleyball game.
