2022 LCS Season
The 2022 LCS season is the fifth year of North America's League Championship Series, a professional esports league for the MOBA PC game ''League of Legends'', under partnership and the tenth overall. The Lock In tournament began on January 14 and concluded on January 30 with Team Liquid defeating Evil Geniuses 3–0. The spring regular season began on February 5 and will conclude with the Mid-Season Showdown, which will start on April 2 and finish on April 24 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The summer split began on June 18 and will finish with the Summer Playoffs, which will begin on August 20 and conclude with the Summer Finals. League changes On November 16, 2021, Riot announced the official format for the 2022 season, shortly after the conclusion of the 2021 League of Legends World Championship. League Championship Series (esports)
The League Championship Series (LCS) is the top level of professional ''League of Legends'' in the United States and Canada. The esports league is run by Riot Games and has ten franchise teams. Each annual season of competition is divided into two splits, spring and summer, which conclude with a double-elimination tournament between the top eight teams. At the end of the season, the winner, runners-up and third-place team of the summer playoffs qualify for the annual ''League of Legends'' World Championship. With the exception of some touring events, all games of the LCS are played live at Riot Games' studios in Los Angeles, California. In addition to a small studio audience, all games are streamed live in several languages on Twitch and YouTube, with broadcasts regularly attracting over 300,000 viewers. Heo Seung-hoon ( ko, 허승훈), better known as Huni (), is a South Korean former professional ''League of Legends'' player. Career Huni started his career in ''League of Legends'' as a part of the Samsung organization. He was one of the practice partners for the team, though he was never announced as an official substitute for the team. Just before the start of the 2015 EU LCS Spring/Regular Season, Huni joined Fnatic as their starting toplaner, his first official team, as part of the new roster alongside Reignover, Febiven, Steelback, and YellOwStaR — the only player from the previous line-up. Dignitas (esports)
Dignitas, formerly known as Team Dignitas, is a professional esports organization based in Newark, New Jersey, founded by Michael "ODEE" O'Dell on 9 September 2003 as a merger of two top ''Battlefield 1942'' clans. Dignitas was acquired by the Philadelphia 76ers in September 2016. The team is best known for its ''League of Legends'', ''Rocket League'', and '' Counter-Strike: Global Offensive'' squads. In September 2019, Dignitas formed a new parent company, New Meta Entertainment (NME), a digital sports and entertainment company. The organization rebranded in October 2018, dropping "Team" from its name and replacing its old "alien" logo with an owl logo. Eric Ritchie, better known as Licorice, is a Canadian professional ''League of Legends'' player for Golden Guardians of the League Championship Series (LCS). Prior to competing in the LCS, Ritchie played for LCS Challenger teams, such as Cloud9 Challenger and Team eUnited. The Golden Guardians (GG) are an American esports organization owned by the Golden State Warriors. The organization was one of four that joined the League of Legends Championship Series, ''League of Legends'' Championship Series (LCS) in 2018 after the league began Sports franchise, franchising, the others being 100 Thieves, Clutch Gaming and OpTic Gaming. On December 18, 2019, the Golden Guardians announced their expansion into the professional scenes of ''Apex Legends'', ''Teamfight Tactics'' and ''World of Warcraft''. ''Super Smash Bros. Choi Jae-hyun ( ko, 최재현), better known as huhi, is a South Korean professional ''League of Legends'' player for Golden Guardians of the LCS. Career Huhi joined his first major team in North America when he became a member of Counter Logic Gaming in 2015. As CLG's mid laner, Huhi and his teammates won the 2016 NA LCS Spring Split Finals against Team SoloMid. He went on to place second at the 2016 Mid-Season Invitational. In November 2018, Huhi left CLG to play for 100 Thieves in the 2019 LCS Spring Split, but was released following the end of the regular season. Huhi played as a support for the Golden Guardians' academy team, which he joined before the start of the 2019 Summer Split. Kim Chan-ho (Hangul: 김찬호) better known as Ssumday, is a South Korean professional ''League of Legends'' player for 100 Thieves of the League Championship Series (LCS). Ssumday began his professional career in Korea on KT Rolster as their toplaner, before moving to North America where he spent a year with Team Dignitas, after which he signed with 100 Thieves in 2018. Zaqueri Black (born September 8, 1992), better known by his in-game name Aphromoo, is an American professional ''League of Legends'' player who is the support for FlyQuest. Aphromoo won the 2018 Spring Split MVP award, the first time it had gone to a support player.
