2022 Kansas City Royals Season
The 2022 Kansas City Royals season was the 54th season for the franchise, and their 50th at Kauffman Stadium. On December 2, 2021, Commissioner of Baseball Rob Manfred announced a lockout of players, following expiration of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the league and the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA). On March 10, 2022, the MLB and MLBPA agreed to a new collective bargaining agreement, thus ending the lockout. Opening Day was played on April 7. Although MLB previously announced that several series would be cancelled due to the lockout, the agreement provides for a 162-game season, with originally canceled games to be made up via doubleheaders. On September 13, the Royals were officially eliminated from playoff contention for the sixth consecutive season. American League Central
The American League Central is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. This division was formed in the realignment of 1994 by moving three teams from the American League West and two teams from the American League East. Its teams are all located in the Midwestern United States. Along with the National League East, the AL Central is one of two divisions in the Major Leagues in which all of its members have won a World Series title. Major League Baseball collusion refers to owners working together to avoid competitive bidding for player services or players jointly negotiating with team owners. Collusion in baseball is formally defined in the Major League Baseball Collective Bargaining Agreement, which states ''"Players shall not act in concert with other Players and Clubs shall not act in concert with other Clubs."'' José Cuas
José Luis Cuas (; born June 28, 1994) is a Dominican-American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2022 with the Kansas City Royals. Amateur career Cuas attended Grand Street Campus High School in Brooklyn, New York. Cuas was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 40th round of the 2012 MLB draft but did not sign. He attended the University of Maryland where he played college baseball for the Terrapins. Dylan David Coleman (born September 16, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2021. Taylor James Clarke (born May 13, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB). Maximo Alberto Castillo (born May 4, 1999) is a Venezuelan professional baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). Kristofer Bubic (born August 19, 1997) is an American baseball, professional baseball pitcher for the Kansas City Royals of Major League Baseball (MLB). Amateur career Bubic attended Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California, where he played American football, football and baseball, and he graduated in 2015.
