2022 Imola Formula 2 Round
The 2022 Imola FIA Formula 2 round was a motor racing event held between 22 and 24 April 2022 at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari. It was the third round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship and was held in support of the 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Classification Qualifying Jüri Vips took his maiden pole position of his FIA Formula 2 career for Hitech Grand Prix, ahead of Ayumu Iwasa and Jack Doohan. Notes: * – Enzo Fittipaldi and Jake Hughes received three-place grid penalties for impeding another driver during qualifying. All three drivers had one penalty point added to their license. Autodromo Internazionale Enzo E Dino Ferrari
The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, better known as Imola, is a motor racing circuit in the town of Imola, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, east of Bologna. It is one of the few major international circuits to run in an anti-clockwise direction. The circuit is named after Ferrari's late founder, Enzo Ferrari (1898–1988), and his son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari (1932–1956). Before Enzo's death, it was called Autodromo Dino Ferrari. The circuit has an FIA Grade One licence. Imola was the venue for the San Marino Grand Prix between 1981 and 2006. During this period, two Grands Prix were held in Italy every year, with the Italian Grand Prix taking place at Monza, so the Imola race was named after the nearby state. Imola also hosted the 1980 Italian Grand Prix in place of Monza. FIA Formula 2
The FIA Formula 2 Championship is a second-tier single-seater championship organised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). Held on racing circuits, the championship was introduced in 2017, following the rebranding of the long-term Formula One feeder series GP2. The series' original founders were Flavio Briatore and current managing director Bruno Michel. Frederik Vesti (born 13 January 2002) is a Danish racing driver who is set to compete in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Prema Racing. He is a member of the Mercedes Junior Team and the inaugural champion of the Formula Regional European Championship. Clément Novalak (born 23 December 2000) is a French-Swiss racing driver set to race for Trident in the 2023 Formula 2 Championship, having previously drove for MP Motorsport. He previously raced in the FIA Formula Three Championship for Carlin and Trident and won the 2019 British F3 Championship with Carlin.
