2022 IPSC Handgun World Shoot
The 2022 IPSC Handgun World Shoot XIX was held in Thailand from November 27 to December 3. The match consisted of 30 stages over 5 areas, and the main-match sponsor was CZ firearms. The match had a capacity of 1600 competitors, and 1345 competitors from 73 countries completed. It was the first World Shoot featuring the popular Production Optics divisions, and was the nineteenth IPSC Handgun World Shoot. History The championship was originally scheduled for 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the match was initially postponed to November/December 2021, but due to the unpredictableness of the COVID situation, the match was finally postponed once more until 2022, coinciding with the completion of the kingdom's full reopening. Michael Christopher Tilley (born May 6, 1985, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina) is a professional shooter and USPSA Grand Master. He is also known for competing in the second season of History Channel's marksmen competition ''Top Shot''. Biography Tilley was born on May 6, 1985, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He exhibited fascination and skill with firearms from a very young age. When he was eleven years old, his father built an indoor shooting range in Raleigh, North Carolina, affording Chris the opportunity to train and immerse himself. A year later, Tilley started competing at matches hosted by the IPSC and IDPA. Tilley mentions one of his father's first employees, a former Marine named Cazz, as a significant influence in his sport shooting career. IPSC Action Air World Shoot
The IPSC Action Air World Shoot is the highest level Action Air match within the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC). The Action Air World Shoots are currently held triennially on the same cycle as the IPSC Shotgun World Shoots. The first Action Air World Shoot was be held in 2018 at the KITEC Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong. The second Action Air World Shoot was originally to be held in Sochi, Russia. The IPSC Shotgun World Shoot is the highest level shotgun match within the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) and consists of several days and at least 30 separate courses of fire. The Shotgun World Shoots are held triennially on a rotational cycle with the other two main IPSC disciplines Handgun and Rifle. History The first Shotgun World Shoot was held in 2012 in Debrecen, Hungary, and consisted of 30 stages over 5 days and over 400 competitors. The subsequent 2015 Shotgun World Shoot was held at the "Le Tre Piume" shooting range near Agna, Italy. The match had 30 stages over 5 days, and 635 competitors from 30 nations. The 2018 Shotgun World Shoot was held at the National Shooting Center in Châteauroux, France and consisted of 30 stages over 7 days, and 656 competitors from 39 nations. The IPSC Rifle World Shoot is the highest level rifle match within the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) which consists of several days and at least 30 separate courses of fire. The Rifle World Shoots are held triennially on a rotational cycle with the other two main IPSC disciplines Handgun and Shotgun. History The first Rifle World Shoot was originally scheduled to be held in 2006 in Denmark, but was postponed and later cancelled due to difficulty in arranging enough long range stages. South Africa later expressed interest in hosting the event, but did not put forward a bid. In 2009 Norway hosted the first European Rifle Championship with most of the top competitors from America, Europe and the rest of the world present. Maxient John Jr. Michel (born 15 December 1981) is an action shooting competitor from the US. He became IPSC Handgun World Champion in the Open division in 2014. He is also the only seven-time winner of the Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships and the only competitor to win it 4 times in a row (2005, 2007, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016). Max began shooting when he was just 5 years old, and has served in the U.S. Army for 10 years (1999 - 2009) as a shooter and trainer. Jethro Dionisio (born January 24, 1972 in Manila, National Capital Region) is a shooter from the Philippines. Nicknamed ''The Jet'', he represented the country in the 2004 Summer Olympics. He is also a famous practical shooter, having won the country's nationals several times starting at the age of 16. At 18, he competed, and won the U.S. Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Competition (1990). He would go on and win two more times, 1992-1993. He is only 1 of 5 people, male and female, to have won the competition more than 2 times. Jessie Harrison, formerly known as Jessie Duff, is an American sport shooter from McDonough, Georgia who took silver in the Open division Lady category at the 2017 IPSC Handgun World Shoot in Châteauroux, France and bronze at the 2011 IPSC Handgun World Shoot at Rhodes, Greece.
