2022 German Darts Championship
The 2022 Interwetten German Darts Championship was the second of thirteen PDC European Tour events on the 2022 PDC Pro Tour. The tournament took place at Halle 39, Hildesheim from 11 to 13 March 2022. It featured a field of 48 players and £140,000 in prize money, with £25,000 going to the winner. Devon Petersen was the defending champion after defeating Jonny Clayton 8–3 in the 2020 final, but lost to Michael Smith in the second round. Michael van Gerwen won his 33rd European Tour title after beating Rob Cross 8–5 in the final, after surviving three match darts in his semi-final match against Dimitri Van den Bergh. Hildesheim
Hildesheim (; nds, Hilmessen, Hilmssen; la, Hildesia) is a city in Lower Saxony, Germany with 101,693 inhabitants. Rob Cross (darts Player)
Robert Cross (born 21 September 1990) is an English professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He became the 2018 PDC World Darts Champion following his victory over Phil Taylor. Cross won the World Championship on his debut, having turned professional just 11 months prior to the event. BDO career 2015 In October 2015, Cross attempted to qualify for the 2016 BDO World Darts Championship, where he was knocked out in the last 64 by Tony Martin. He also competed in the 2015 World Masters, losing to Darius Labanauskas in the last 48. Peter Wright (darts Player)
Peter Wright (born 10 March 1970) is a Scottish professional darts player who plays in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), where he is currently ranked No. 2 in the world. Nicknamed "Snakebite", he is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and is a two-time world champion, having won the PDC World Darts Championship in 2020 and 2022. He is also a World Matchplay champion. When he was 24, Wright qualified for the first round of the 1995 BDO World Darts Championship, but then stopped playing darts professionally, working instead as a builder and tyre fitter while competing in local darts leagues. Ted Evetts
Ted Evetts (born 3 August 1997) is an English darts player who competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is the 2021 PDC World Youth Champion. Career Evetts plays for his local Super League team and also plays Men's County for Warwickshire as well as being signed on to Warwickshire Youth County. He is also a qualified chef. After competing on the PDC Development Tour in 2014 and 2015, Evetts gained a PDC Pro Tour card on the second day of the 2016 Qualifying School. Evetts was a qualifier for the 2016 Grand Slam of Darts, which was his first televised event. He lost all of three of his group games. Chris Dobey
Chris Dobey (born 31 May 1990) is an English professional darts player currently playing in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career His first major TV appearance came in the 2015 UK Open where he lost 5–1 in the first round to Nathan Aspinall. At the 11th Players Championship of the year he had deciding leg victories over Jan Dekker, Kim Huybrechts and Max Hopp to reach the last 16 of a PDC event for the first time, where he was defeated 6–2 by Mark Webster. Dobey qualified for the 2015 World Series of Darts Finals and lost in a last leg decider to Terry Jenkins. Gabriel Clemens (born August 16, 1983) is a German professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career In 2017, Clemens made the semi-finals of the World Masters, and missed match darts against the BDO number one Mark McGeeney to reach the final. In January 2018, he gained a two-year PDC Tour Card. He won the fourth day of European Q-School by defeating the Dutchman Vincent Kamphuis 5–3 in the final. Brendan Dolan
Brendan Gabriel Dolan (born 2 August 1973) is a Northern Irish professional darts player from County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is best known for becoming the first player to hit a nine-dart finish in a "double-to-start" event (Where a player must hit a double, with a maximum value of 40, to begin play, as opposed to the traditional free choice, 60 point maximum first dart), which he did at the 2011 World Grand Prix. Gerwyn Price
Gerwyn Stephen Price (born 7 March 1985) is a Welsh professional darts player and former professional rugby union and rugby league player. Nicknamed "The Iceman", he competes in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), where he is currently the World No. 4. He is a 3-time Grand Slam Champion and a former world champion, becoming the first ever Welshman to win the tournament. He is also a former world No. 1. PDC Order Of Merit
The PDC Order of Merit is a world ranking system used by one of the darts organisations, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Following the 2007 PDC World Darts Championship it superseded a world ranking system based on points being awarded for performances in ranking tournaments. How it works The Order of Merit is similar to that employed in golf's European Tour. Prize money won during the previous two seasons is calculated and the rankings are determined from this money list. The Professional Darts Corporation adopted an Order of Merit system in 2007, which is based on prize money won over two years for the main Order of Merit and separate one-year rankings for other PDC Pro Tour events. Dimitri Van Den Bergh
Dimitri Van den Bergh (born 8 July 1994) is a Belgian professional darts player who currently competes in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is a two-time World Youth Champion and the 2020 World Matchplay champion, after beating Gary Anderson 18–10 in the final, in his first time competing in the Matchplay. Michael Van Gerwen
Michael van Gerwen (; born 25 April 1989) is a Dutch professional darts player. He is currently ranked number 3 in the world, having been number 1 from 2014 to 2021. He is also a three-time PDC World Champion, having won the title in 2014, 2017 and 2019. Van Gerwen is regarded as one of the best players of all time.
