ASUN Conference
The ASUN Conference, formerly the Atlantic Sun Conference, is a collegiate athletic conference operating mostly in the Southeastern United States. The league participates at the NCAA Division I level, and began sponsoring football at the Division I FCS level in 2022. Originally established as the Trans America Athletic Conference (TAAC) in 1978, it was renamed as the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2001, and then rebranded as the ASUN Conference in 2016. The conference headquarters are located in Atlanta. Jacksonville, Alabama
Jacksonville is a city in Calhoun County, Alabama, United States. As of the 2010 census the population was 12,548, which is a 49% increase since 2000. It is included in the Anniston-Oxford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is home to Jacksonville State University, which is a center of commerce and one of the largest employers in the area. History Jacksonville was founded in 1833 on land purchased from Creek Indian Chief "Du-Hoag" Ladiga. First called Drayton, the town was renamed to honor President Andrew Jackson in 1834. There are a couple Civil War monuments in town, including a statue of Major John Pelham in the city cemetery and a statue of a Confederate soldier in the middle of the square. Burgess–Snow Field at JSU Stadium is a 24,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Jacksonville, Alabama. It opened in 1947 and is home to the Jacksonville State Gamecocks football team. It was also home to the Jacksonville High School Golden Eagles football team until 2004, when they moved to a new stadium on the high school campus. 2022 Jacksonville State Gamecocks Football Team
The 2022 Jacksonville State Gamecocks football team represented Jacksonville State University in the 2022 NCAA Division I FCS football season. The Gamecocks competed in the ASUN Conference after the ASUN added football, scheduled for 2022. Led by first-year head coach Rich Rodriguez, Jacksonville State compiled an overall record of 9–2 with mark of 5–0 in conference play. The Gamecocks were ineligible for FCS postseason play and the ASUN champion title due to their transition to the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). Houck Stadium
Houck Stadium is an 11,015-seat multi-purpose stadium in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. It opened in 1930 and was named after famous Missouri resident Louis Houck. Today it is home to the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks football team and women's soccer team. The stadium used to be open on both the east and west side. Today, it is open only on the east side. On the west end of the stadium, where KRCU once stood, is a brand new, 5-story residence hall for Southeast students, with some of the rooms looking out over the stadium. 2022 Southeast Missouri State Redhawks Football Team
The 2022 Southeast Missouri State Redhawks football team represented Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) during the 2022 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by ninth-year head coach Tom Matukewicz, the Redhawks played their home games at Houck Stadium in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Although Southeast Missouri State finished as OVC co-champions with UT Martin (both with 5–0 OVC records), SEMO was awarded the automatic bid to the 2022 FCS playoffs while UT Martin was not.
