During the Parade of Nations at the 2022 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, held on 28 July 2022, athletes bearing the flags of their respective nations lead their national delegations as they paraded into Alexander Stadium in the host city of Birmingham, England. A total of 72 Commonwealth Games Associations entered into the stadium. 2022 Commonwealth Games
The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December 2017. The Games marked England's third time hosting the Commonwealth Games after London 1934 and Manchester 2002, and the 7th Games held in the United Kingdom, with previous events in Wales and Scotland: Cardiff 1958, Edinburgh 1970 and 1986 and Glasgow 2014. The Games was the largest ever held, with 72 participating nations and over 1.3 million ticket sales. Semesa Vakalelea Naiseruvati (born 20 September 1963) is a Fijian international lawn bowler. Bows career Naiseruvati won the gold medal in the triples with Daniel Lum On and Samuela Tuikiligana at the 2011 Asia Pacific Bowls Championships in Adelaide. He was selected to represent Fiji at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, where he competed in the triples and fours. The Pacific Media Network is a New Zealand radio network and pan-Pasifika national broadcasting network, currently owned and operated by the National Pacific Radio Trust and partly funded by the Government. Olympic weightlifting, Weightlifting was one of the sports contested at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, held in Birmingham, England. This was the nineteenth staging of weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games since its inclusion in 1950, and the second staging within England specifically. The competition took place between 30 July and 3 August 2022, spread across sixteen weight classes (eight per gender). Maximina Uepa (born 22 September 2002) is a weightlifter from Nauru. She won the bronze medal in the women's 76 kg event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England. She is the current Nauruan women's record-holder in the 71kg category for overall, snatch and clean and jerk. Biography Uepa was born on 22 September 2002 in Denig, Nauru. Her father, Jezza Uepa, and her brother, Maxius Uepa, are both successful powerlifters. Jezza Uepa won the 120kg+ class/super heavyweight class in the IPF World Powerlifting Championships in 2019.
