2022 Cavite Local Elections
Local elections were held in the province of Cavite on Monday, May 9, 2022, as part of the 2022 Philippine general election. Voters will select candidates for all local positions: a municipal and city mayor, vice mayor and councilors, as well as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the governor, vice governor and representatives for the eight districts of Cavite. Background Incumbent Jonvic Remulla who was elected in 2019 is seeking a second term as governor of Cavite. Incumbent Tagaytay Councilor Athena Tolentino, daughter of incumbent Cavite 8th district representative Abraham Tolentino and Tagaytay Mayor Agnes Tolentino is being poised by Remulla to be his running mate. The 23-year old Tolentino said that being a woman and a young politician is her advantage in running for Vice Governor. If elected, she will be the first female Vice Governor of the province. General Emilio Aguinaldo, Cavite
General Emilio Aguinaldo, officially the Municipality of General Emilio Aguinaldo ( tgl, Bayan ng Heneral Emilio Aguinaldo), is a 5th class municipality in the province of Cavite, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 23,973 people. Etymology The town is also known by its former official name of Bailen. The municipality's current official name was adopted in 1965 and is named after Emilio Aguinaldo, the president of the First Philippine Republic, who died the year before the rename. In 2012, municipality administrators voted to revert the town's name back to Bailen; however, this has yet to be ratified. History The municipality of General Emilio Aguinaldo used to be a separate Catholic parish in the town of adjacent Maragondon. Tagaytay
Tagaytay, officially the City of Tagaytay ( fil, Lungsod ng Tagaytay), is a 2nd class component city in the province of Cavite, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 85,330 people. It is one of the country's most popular destinations for domestic tourism because of its scenery and cooler climate provided by its altitude. Tagaytay overlooks Taal Lake in Batangas and provides views of Taal Volcano Island in the middle of the lake through various vantage points situated in the city. Silang, Cavite
Silang, officially the Municipality of Silang ( tgl, Bayan ng Silang), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Cavite, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 295,644 people. Silang is located in the eastern section of Cavite. Noveleta
Noveleta, officially the Municipality of Noveleta ( tgl, Bayan ng Noveleta), formerly known as Tierra Alta during the Spanish colonial era, is a 3rd class municipality in the province of Cavite, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 49,452 people. With the continuous expansion of Metro Manila, the municipality is now included in the Manila built-up area which reaches Lipa City in its southernmost part. History Noveleta was originally a barrio of the municipality of Kawit (Cavite El Viejo) and some part of Cavite City (Dalahican). It was made an independent pueblo on January 5, 1868, by Gen.
