2022 Campeones Cup
The 2022 Campeones Cup was the fourth edition of the Campeones Cup, an annual North American football match contested between the reigning champion of Major League Soccer and the winner of the Campeón de Campeones of Liga MX. The match featured New York City FC, winners of the 2021 MLS Cup, and Atlas, the winners of the 2022 Campeón de Campeones. New York City FC hosted the match on September 14, 2022, at Yankee Stadium. NYCFC won 2–0 with goals from Alexander Callens and Maximiliano Moralez while starting several reserve players. They became the third consecutive MLS team to win the Campeones Cup. Yankee Stadium
Yankee Stadium is a baseball stadium located in the Bronx, New York City. It is the home field of the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball, and New York City FC of Major League Soccer. Maximiliano Nicolás "Maxi" Moralez (born 27 February 1987) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Argentine Primera División club Racing. He is nicknamed ''frasquito'' (English: little flask). Alexander Martín Callens Asín (born 4 May 1992) is a Peruvian professional footballer who plays as a central defender for La Liga side Girona and the Peru national team. MLS Cup 2021 was the 26th edition of the MLS Cup, the championship match of Major League Soccer (MLS) at the conclusion of the 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs. The soccer match was played on December 11, 2021, at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon, United States. It was contested by hosts Portland Timbers and New York City FC to determine the champion of the 2021 season. New York City FC won their first MLS Cup title by defeating the Timbers in a penalty shootout following a 1–1 draw in regulation and extra time.
