2022 Bromley London Borough Council Election
The 2022 Bromley London Borough Council election took place on 5 May 2022. All 58 members of Bromley London Borough Council were elected. The elections took place alongside local elections in the other London boroughs and elections to local authorities across the United Kingdom. In the previous election in 2018, the Conservative Party maintained its longstanding control of the council, winning 50 out of the 60 seats with the Labour Party forming the primary opposition with eight of the remaining seats. Independent candidates won the other two. The 2022 election took place under new election boundaries, which reduced the number of councillors to 58. Marina Masuma Ahmad ( bn, মেরিনা মাসূমা আহমদ) is a British Labour Party politician and trade unionist who has been the London Assembly Member for Lambeth and Southwark since 2021. She represented Crystal Palace and was an education spokesperson on Bromley Council. Bromley London Borough Council is the local authority for the London Borough of Bromley in Greater London, England. It is one of 32 London borough councils. History There have previously been a number of local authorities responsible for the Bromley area. In a first-past-the-post electoral system (FPTP or FPP), formally called single-member plurality voting (SMP) when used in single-member districts or informally choose-one voting in contrast to ranked voting, or score voting, voters cast their vote for a candidate of their choice, and the candidate who receives the most votes wins even if the top candidate gets less than 50%, which can happen when there are more than two popular candidates. 2021 London Assembly Election
The 2021 London Assembly election was held on 6 May 2021 to elect the members of the London Assembly, alongside the 2021 London mayoral election. The mayoral and Assembly elections were originally to be held on 7 May 2020, but on 13 March 2020 it was announced the election would be postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the sixth election since the assembly was established in 2000.
