2022 Bolivian Primera División Season
The 2022 Bolivian Primera División season, known as the 2022 Copa Tigo season for sponsorship reasons, was the 45th season of the División Profesional del Fútbol Boliviano, Bolivia's top-flight football league and the fifth season under División de Fútbol Profesional management. The season began on 4 February and was scheduled to end on 13 November 2022. In the Torneo Apertura, Bolívar won their thirtieth league title and twenty-fourth in the professional era, by defeating crosstown rivals The Strongest in the final match played on 12 June by a 3–0 score. On the other hand, the Torneo Clausura was abandoned on 10 November 2022 with 24 out of 30 rounds played and no champion was declared due to civil unrest in the Santa Cruz Department. Bolivian Primera División
The División de Fútbol Profesional is the top-flight professional football league in Bolivia. Until 2017 it was known as the "Liga de Fútbol Profesional Boliviano" (; en, Bolivian Professional Football League). Since 1950, a total of 16 clubs have been crowned champions of the Bolivian football league system. The current champions are Bolívar, which won the title in the 2022 Apertura tournament. Oriente Petrolero
Club Deportivo Oriente Petrolero () is a Bolivian football club based in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. They play at the 38,000-capacity Estadio Tahuichi Aguilera. Oriente have been Bolivian champions five times, Copa Aerosur winners two times. They have also been successful in South America, by being the second Bolivian team to make the quarter-finals in Copa Libertadores. The club had their first major success in 1971, when they won the league championship. Oriente Petrolero won several cup competitions during the 1980s, but after that did not win another major title until 1989. Nacional Potosí is a Bolivian football and basketball team from Potosí. The football team currently plays in the Bolivian Primera División. Founded on 8 April 1942, it plays its home games at Estadio Víctor Agustín Ugarte. History Nacional Potosí is one of Bolivia's oldest football clubs, being founded on 8 April 1942. The team has mainly played in the second tier of Bolivian football. The Strongest
Club The Strongest is a Bolivian professional football club based in La Paz, that currently plays in the Bolivian Primera División. Founded in 1908, their team colours are yellow and black. Although they have a home ground, Estadio Rafael Mendoza, (capacity: 15,000), they play most of their games at the Estadio Hernando Siles, Bolivia's national ground (capacity: 42,000). Club Deportivo San José was a football club from Oruro, Bolivia. Founded in 1942, they have won the Bolivian league four times: in 1955, 1995, 2007, and 2018. Their colours are white and blue, and they play at the Estadio Jesús Bermúdez (capacity 35,000). The club was founded on 19 March 1942 as Liga Deportiva San José. Club Real Potosí
Club Real Potosí is a Bolivian football club based in Potosí. Founded on 1 April 1988, in 2022 it will play in the Potosí Football Association Championship, after being relegated from the Bolivian Primera División in 2021, holding home games at Estadio Víctor Agustín Ugarte, with a 32,000-seat capacity. History Real Potosí was founded on 1 April 1988, as Fútbol Academy of Real Potosì. They subsequently merged with ''Banco Minero of Bolivia (Bamin)'', which was founded on 20 October 1941. The club played their first continental competition, the Copa Libertadores, in 2002. They were drawn with Peñarol of Uruguay, El Nacional of Ecuador, and San Lorenzo de Almagro of Argentina. Even though they came in last place, they beat San Lorenzo 1-0 and thrashed Peñarol 6-1. Copa Simón Bolívar (Bolivia)
The old 2nd tier in the Bolivian Football pyramid consists of 9 regional leagues (one for each department), the number of participants varies depending on the department, It usually has between 8 and 12 teams. Both winner and runner-up of each league compete in the Copa Simón Bolívar, with the winner of such tournament gaining promotion to the 1st Division, and the runner-up playing a play-off match with the 11th placed team in the 1st Division. Until 1976 all 8 regional championships (Pando didn't have an organized tournament back then) were the top in the national football pyramid, with the winner of the Copa Simón Bolívar being crowned as national champion. 2022 Copa Bolivia
The 2022 Copa Bolivia was the 28th edition of the Copa Bolivia, Bolivia's domestic football cup competition organized by the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF), held for the first time since 2002. Ninety-four teams from the División Profesional and regional leagues were slated to take part in the competition, which started on 21 April with its regional preliminary stages and was scheduled to end on 3 November 2022. The champions were entitled to qualify for the 2023 Copa Sudamericana, taking the ''Bolivia 2'' berth for that competition, as well as the 2022 Supercopa Bolivia and would also earn a prize of US$ 500,000.
