2022 Big 12 Conference Football Season
The 2022 Big 12 Conference football season will be the 27th season of the Big 12 Conference football taking place during the 2022 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The season will begin on September 3 with non-conference play. Conference play will begin on September 24, 2022. The 2022 season will be the eleventh season for the Big 12 since the early 2010s conference realignment brought the Big 12 membership to its current form. It is also the final year in the ten team configuration, with BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF entering before the 2023 season. The NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), formerly known as Division I-A, is the highest level of college football in the United States. BYU Cougars Football
The BYU Cougars football team is the college football program representing Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. The Cougars began collegiate football competition in 1922, and have won 23 conference championships and one national championship in 1984. The team has competed in several different athletic conferences during its history, but since July 1, 2011, they have competed as an Independent. Thomas Brent Venables (born December 18, 1970) is an American football coach who is the head coach at the University of Oklahoma. He previously served as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Clemson University from 2012 to 2021. Christopher Paul Klieman ( ; born September 27, 1967) is an American football coach and former player, and is currently the head coach for Kansas State University in the Big 12 Conference. He took over from the retiring Bill Snyder after leading North Dakota State University to the 2018 Division I FCS championship, marking his fourth national championship in five seasons at NDSU. Lance Leipold ( ; born May 6, 1964) is an American college football coach who has been the head football coach at the University of Kansas since 2021. Leipold served as the head football coach at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater (UWW) from 2007 to 2014 and at University at Buffalo from 2015 to 2020. Matthew Allen Campbell (born November 29, 1979) is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach at Iowa State University, a position he has held since the 2016 season.
