2022 Berlin Marathon
The 2022 Berlin Marathon was the 48th edition of the annual marathon race in Berlin, which took place on Sunday, . An Elite Platinum Label marathon, it was the first of four World Marathon Majors events to be held over the span of six weeks. 45,527 runners with 34,879 finishers from 157 countries have taken part in the event. Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge set a new marathon world record, winning the race with a time of 2:01:09, and beating the previous record, which he had set himself four years ago in Berlin, by 30 seconds. This was Kipchoge's fourth victory at the Berlin Marathon, making him the second runner to win the race four times, after Ethiopian runner Haile Gebrselassie. Eliud Kipchoge
Eliud Kipchoge ( ; born 5 November 1984) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in the marathon and formerly specialized at the 5000 metre distance. Widely regarded as the greatest marathon runner of all time, he is the 2016 and 2020 Olympic marathon champion and the world record holder in the marathon with a time of 2:01:09 set at the 2022 Berlin Marathon. He has run four of the six fastest marathons in history. Kipchoge claimed his first individual world championship title in 2003 by winning the junior race at the World Cross Country Championships, and setting a world junior record over 5000 m on the track. Manuela Schär
Manuela Schär (born 5 December 1984) is a Paralympian athlete from Switzerland competing mainly in category T54 sprint events. She has used a wheelchair since the age of 8, when a playground accident paralysed her from the waist down. Career Schär competed in the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece. There she won a silver medal in the women's 200 metres – T54 event, bronze in the women's 100 metres – T54 event and finished sixth in the women's 400 metres – T54 event. The 2022 Boston Marathon was a marathon race held in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 18, 2022. It was the 126th official running of the race, and 124th time it was run on course (excluding the virtual event of 2020, and the ekiden of 1918). The field was limited to 30,000 runners. Daniel Romanchuk (born 3 August 1998) is an American Paralympic athlete who competes primarily in wheelchair racing events. He won the Chicago Marathon on October 7, 2018; just under a month later, he became the first American to win the men's wheelchair race at the New York City Marathon, as well as the youngest winner in the history of the wheelchair event in New York. Romanchuk followed up these wins with a win at the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2019. He became the first American man to win Boston's wheelchair division since 1993. 2021 Tokyo Marathon
The 2021 Tokyo Marathon ( ja, 東京マラソン2021) was the fifteenth edition of the annual marathon race in Tokyo. The competition was held on Sunday 6 March 2022, having been postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The elite events were won by Kenyans Eliud Kipchoge and Brigid Kosgei respectively, whilst the wheelchair races were won by Swiss athlete Marcel Hug and Japanese competitor Tsubasa Kina. Rosemary Wanjiru
Rosemary Monica Wanjiru (born 9 December 1994) is a Kenyan professional female long-distance runner. She won the silver medal in the 5000 metres at the 2015 African Games, and represented her country at the 2019 World Athletics Championships, finishing fourth in the 10,000 metres. Wanjiru won the 2023 Tokyo Marathon and placed second at the 2022 Berlin Marathon. With her Tokyo mark, she sits sixth on the marathon world all-time list. The Vienna City Marathon is an annual marathon race over the classic distance of 42.195 km held in Vienna, Austria since 1984. History The first edition was held on with a total of 794 competitors. It is Austria's largest road running event and the 2010 edition had record participation with 32,940 runners from 108 nations taking part in the day's races.
