2022 Belarusian Premier League (women)
The 2022 Belarusian Premier League was the 32nd season of top-tier football in Belarus. Shakhtyor Soligorsk defended their championship winning the fourth league title in club history. The title was subsequently stripped on May 11, 2023 following a match-fixing scandal. Teams The 15th-placed team of the last season Smorgon was relegated to the 2022 Belarusian First League, ending their one-year stay in the top division. Sputnik Rechitsa were excluded from the league halfway through the last season and will not play in any league in 2022. Smorgon and Sputnik were replaced by two best teams of 2021 Belarusian First League ( Arsenal Dzerzhinsk, promoted to the top-flight for the first time in their history and Belshina Bobruisk, promoted after a one-year absence). Belarusian Premier League
The Belarusian Premier League or the Vyšejšaja Liha or the Vysheyshaya Liga ( be, Вышэйшая ліга, russian: Высшая лига, "Top League") is the top division of professional football in Belarus, and is organized by the Belarusian Football Federation. The number of teams in the competition has varied over the years from as high as 17 (1992–93 season) to as low as 11 (2012). As of 2016, the league included 16 teams. Each team plays every other team twice during the course of the season. At the end of the season, the two teams with the fewest points are automatically relegated to the Belarusian First League, while the third worst team plays a promotion-relegation playoff against the third best team from the second tier. The top two teams from the Belarusian First League automatically win promotion to the Premier League. The Belarusian First League is the second tier of professional football in Belarus. It was created in 1992, following the Belarusian independence. History and format The typical format of the league involves 16 clubs playing a double round-robin tournament over 30 matchdays (with the exception of shortened 1992 and 1995 seasons, which were a single round-robin tournaments). On several occasions the number of participating teams was smaller (15 or 14), due to last minute withdrawals and no teams available for replacement. Haradzeya ( be, Гарадзея, russian: Городея, pl, Horodziej, lt, Gorodėja) is an urban-type settlement in Belarus, located in the Nyasvizh District of Minsk Region. History The first known documental record of the village dates back to 1530. Horodziej was a privately owned village located in the Nowogródek County of the Nowogródek Voivodeship of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth until the Second Partition of Poland (1793) when it was annexed by Tsarist Russia. Initially, the village often changed owners, before it became the property of the powerful Radziwiłł family in 1575. A Roman Catholic church was built in the 17th century. 2021 Belarusian First League
2021 Belarusian First League is the 31st season of 2nd level football in Belarus. It started in April and finished in November 2021. Team changes from 2020 season Two best teams of 2020 Belarusian First League ( Sputnik Rechitsa and Gomel) were promoted to Belarusian Premier League. They were replaced by two last-placed teams of 2020 Belarusian Premier League ( Belshina Bobruisk and Smolevichi). FC Smorgon (6th-placed team of last year's season) were additionally promoted to Premier League to replace Gorodeya, who disbanded in the winter.
