2022 America East Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2022 America East Women's Basketball Conference tournament was the postseason women's basketball tournament for the America East Conference that began March 5, 2022 and ended with the final on March 11, 2022. The second-seeded Albany Great Danes defeated the top seed Maine Black Bears in the tournament final to advance to the 2022 NCAA tournament, their seventh tournament appearance. All tournament games were played on the home arenas of the higher-seeded school. Seeds Eight of the ten America East teams qualified for the tournament. Stony Brook was not eligible for the tournament due to a postseason ban imposed by the conference. The teams were seeded by record in conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. Albany Great Danes Women's Basketball
The Albany Great Danes women's basketball team is the basketball team that represents the University at Albany, State University of New York in Albany, New York. The school's team currently competes in the America East Conference and plays its home games at SEFCU Arena. History UAlbany Women's Basketball had little success on the court since it started play in 1964–65. Its greatest success took place in 1985–86 when it went 26–4 and made it the 3rd Round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Coach Mari Warner would lead the program into Division I play in 1999–00, but again success was limited. Through the 2000s under new coach Trina Patterson, winning was also limited. The Hartford Hawks women's basketball team is the basketball team that represents the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut, United States. The school's team currently competes as an Independent. The school began the women's basketball team in 1975 as a Division III school. The New Hampshire Wildcats women's basketball team is the basketball team that represent the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire. The school's team currently competes in the America East Conference and plays its home games at Lundholm Gym. History The Wildcats won back-to-back Eastern College Athletic Conference conference titles in 1983 and 1984 but they were not invited to the NCAA tournament. Colleen Margaret Mullen (born June 19, 1980) is an American college basketball coach and former player. She is the head coach of the Albany women's basketball team. High school Mullen played basketball and volleyball at Chelmsford High School in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts. She earned a letter in each of her four years as a basketball player. In her sophomore year she was named captain of the team and remained as captain through her junior and senior years. She earned MVP honors for her team in each of her last three years, and as a senior earned honorable mention All–''USA Today'' honors. The NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament is a single-elimination tournament played each spring in the United States, currently featuring 68 Women's sports, women's college basketball teams from the NCAA Division I, Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), to determine the national championship. The tournament was preceded by the AIAW women's basketball tournament, which was organized by the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) from 1972 to 1982. Basketball was one of 12 women's sports added to the NCAA championship program for the 1981–82 school year, as the NCAA engaged in battle with the AIAW for sole governance of women's collegiate sports.
