2022 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final
The 2022 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final, the 135th final of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship and the culmination of the 2022 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, was played at Croke Park in Dublin on 17 July 2022. This was the earliest in the year that the final had ever taken place. Some past finals had taken place at dates earlier in the year, but these were finals rescheduled from the years in which they were originally supposed to occur. The match was televised live on RTÉ One as part of ''The Sunday Game'', presented by Joanne Cantwell from the Croke Park studio with analysis by Anthony Daly, Dónal Óg Cusack and Liam Sheedy. The 2022 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 135th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament, since its establishment in 1887. The provincial fixtures were released on 27 November 2021. The championship began on 16 April 2022 and ended on 17 July 2022. Limerick entered the championship as defending champions having won the previous two championships. Westmeath, having won the 2021 Joe McDonagh Cup, returned to the Leinster Championship for the first time since the 2017 competition. The All-Ireland final was played on 17 July 2022 at Croke Park in Dublin, between Limerick and Kilkenny. Joanne Cantwell
Joanne Cantwell (born 30 September 1979) is an Irish sports presenter. Personal life Cantwell was raised in Dublin, one of five daughters. She studied journalism at Dublin City University. Cantwell is married with two daughters and lives in Ongar, Co. Dublin. Sporting career Cantwell participated in a number of competitive sports from her early teens. She played ladies' Gaelic football for the Dublin county team, and was part of the team that won Dublin's first-ever senior Leinster Ladies Senior Football Championship. She was named Young Dublin Player of the Year in 1997 and was an All-Star nominee in 1998. Journalism career Cantwell began her journalism career while still in university, covering weekend sport on radio station FM104. 2007 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final
The 2007 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final was a hurling match held at Croke Park, Dublin on 2 September 2007. The match was the 120th All-Ireland hurling final and was contested by Kilkenny and Limerick, with Kilkenny winning 2–19 to 1–15. It was the first meeting of these two sides in the All-Ireland final since 1974 when Kilkenny were the winners. Kilkenny were aiming to capture a second All-Ireland title in succession while Limerick were hoping to capture a first title since 1973. The prize for the winning team was the Liam MacCarthy Cup. Prior to the event, Kilkenny goalkeeper James McGarry's wife Vanessa died in a road accident. Kilkenny People
The ''Kilkenny People'' is a local newspaper circulated in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Popular in Kilkenny City and County, it competes with the ''Kilkenny Reporter'' and ''The Munster Express'' in the south of the county. ''The Kilkenny People'' is published on Wednesdays every week and is owned by Iconic Newspapers, which acquired Johnston Press's titles in the Republic of Ireland in 2014. The paper is printed in three sections, dealing with news, property and sport. Originally set up as a newspaper for supporters of Charles Stewart Parnell, it survived and prospered while others folded and closed. In 1919, British Forces removed the printing press and printing equipment from the newspaper's offices in Kilkenny City. This move prevented messages of Irish Independence being communicated throughout the region. Ollie Canning
Oliver Canning (born 9 July 1976) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a left corner-back for the Galway senior team. Born in Ballinasloe, County Galway, Canning first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of fourteen when he first linked up with the Galway minor team, before later joining the under-21 team. He made his senior debut during the 1996 championship. Canning went on to play a key role for Galway for the next fifteen years, and won three Connacht medals and four National Hurling League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. As a member of the Connacht inter-provincial team at various times throughout his career, Canning won two Railway Cup medals. Jamesie O'Connor
Jamesie O'Connor (born 28 July 1972) is an Irish former hurler who played as a midfielder for the Clare senior hurling team. O'Connor made his first appearance for the team during the 1992–93 National League and became a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 2004 championship. During that time he won two All-Ireland medals, three Munster medals and four All-Star awards. He ended up as an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level O'Connor was an All-Ireland medalist with St Joseph's Doora-Barefield. He also won two Munster medals and three county club championship medals. Michael Duignan (hurler)
Michael Duignan (; born 21 February 1968) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer and current Gaelic games administrator, serving as chairman of the Offaly County Board. Playing career St Rynagh's Duignan joined the St Rynagh's club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels before eventually joining the St Rynagh's top adult team at senior level as a 16-year-old. On 19 October 1986, Duignan lined out at left corner-forward when St Rynagh's qualified to play Coolderry in the final. He scored a point from play and was narrowly denied his first winners' medal after St Rynagh's suffered a 3-08 to 1-10 defeat. Marty Morrissey
Martin Morrissey (born 28 October 1958, Mallow, County Cork) is an Irish sports commentator and television presenter. He regularly presents high-profile sports events for RTÉ Sport, such as the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and Olympic Games. Early life Morrissey was born in Mallow, County Cork (where his mother was from) but was raised in the Bronx, New York, where his parents worked. When he was aged 10, the family returned to Ireland to his father's native home of Clare. They settled in Mullagh. Later, Morrissey went on to study at St Flannan's College in Ennis and then University College Cork (UCC) in Cork where he studied medicine for three years before switching to microbiology and physics.
