2022 Algarve Cup
The 2022 Algarve Cup was the 28th edition of the Algarve Cup, an invitational Women's association football, women's football tournament held annually in Portugal. It took place from 16 to 23 February 2022. Teams Five teams were participating. Note: Australia withdrew before the draw due to serious concerns for the health and wellbeing of players and team officials following a lengthy and crowded 2021 schedule. Squads Format Five teams played two matches each to determine the standings. The top two teams played the final, while the other three teams played each other in 45 minutes matches to determine the final ranking. Valentina Giacinti (born 2 January 1994) is an Italian professional footballer who plays as forward for Serie A club A.S. Roma and the Italy women's national team. Club career P.C.A. Atalanta Giacinti begun career with the P.C.A. Atalanta youth team. She made her senior career debut on 30 January 2010 as a 65th minute substitute in a Serie A match against Graphistudio Tavagnacco. Emma Sofia Berglund (born 19 December 1988) is a Swedish footballer. She currently play as a defender for FC Rosengård in the Damallsvenskan and on the Swedish national team. Club career Berglund joined Umeå IK in 2006 and later captained the team. She left Umeå after the 2014 season to sign with Damallsvenskan champions FC Rosengård in December 2014. Sara Caroline Seger (born 19 March 1985) is a Swedish footballer who plays as a midfielder and club captain for FC Rosengård in the Damallsvenskan league. She is the current captain of the Swedish national football team. Club career Linköpings An industrious central midfielder, Seger played for Linköpings FC from 2005 to 2009 and served as the club's captain.
