2021–22 Washington State Cougars Men's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Washington State Cougars men's basketball team represents Washington State University during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team is led by third-year head coach Kyle Smith. The Cougars play their home games at the Beasley Coliseum in Pullman, Washington as members in the Pac-12 Conference. Previous season The Cougars finished the 2019–20 season 14–13, 7–12 in Pac-12 play to finish in 10th place. They lost in the first round to Arizona State of the Pac-12 tournament. Kyle Smith (basketball)
Kyle Andrew Smith (born June 15, 1969) is an American college basketball coach who is the men's head coach for the Washington State Cougars men's basketball, Washington State Cougars of the Pac-12 Conference. Prior to joining the Cougars, Smith was the head coach at Columbia University and then at the University of San Francisco. In his final season at Columbia, he led the team to a CIT Championship over UC Irvine. His coaching style has been dubbed “Nerdball”, which is a system that utilizes analytics to track and make decisions on many aspects about the team. Playing career Smith was a member of New York's Hamilton College (New York), Hamilton College men's basketball team that achieved a 26–1 record his junior season and achieved the national Division III (NCAA), Division III #1 ranking. Mouhamed Gueye ( ; born 9 November 2002) is a Senegalese professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He moved to the United States as a teenager to play high school basketball at Prolific Prep Academy. Gueye played college basketball for the Washington State Cougars and was named to the All-Pac-12 first-team as a sophomore in 2023. He was selected as the 39th overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets and traded to the Atlanta Hawks on draft night. Barrington, Rhode Island
Barrington is a suburban, residential town in Bristol County, Rhode Island located approximately southeast of Providence. The South Alabama Jaguars men's basketball program has competed in the Sun Belt Conference since 1978 when the league was formed. Since 1968, the Jaguars have compiled an overall record of 694–507 (.580). Ronnie Arrow returned as head coach in 2007, succeeding John Pelphrey after the 2006–07 season. In his three seasons succeeding Pelphrey, Coach Arrow was 63–34 (64.9%), and is 177–127 (58.2%) all time at South Alabama. Michael Flowers (born January 14, 1999) is an American basketball player for the VfL Kirchheim Knights of the ProA. He previously played for the Western Michigan Broncos, South Alabama Jaguars and the Washington State Cougars. He was named second-team All-Pac-12 with Washington State in 2022. The UC San Diego Tritons men's basketball program represents the University of California San Diego (UC San Diego) in National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I level as a member of the Big West Conference.
