2021–22 South Challenge Cup
The 2021–22 SFA North and South Region Challenge Cups#South, SFA South Region Challenge Cup was the 15th edition of the annual knockout cup competition for senior non-league clubs in the central and southern regions of Scotland. The tournament entry increased from 142 to a record 161 teams thanks to additional clubs joining the East of Scotland Football League and West of Scotland Football League. The defending champions were Dunipace F.C., Dunipace, who beat Broomhill F.C. (Scotland), Broomhill 3–1 in the delayed final of the 2019–20 South Challenge Cup, 2019–20 edition on 15 August 2021. However they went out of the competition in the second round, losing 2–1 to Sauchie Juniors F.C., Sauchie Juniors. SFA North And South Region Challenge Cups
The North and South Region Challenge Cups are regional senior non-league competitions run by the Scottish Football Association. The southern tournament is open to full member non-league clubs in the south of the country, while similar stipulations applied to its northern counterpart. History The Challenge Cup competitions replaced the Scottish Qualifying Cup North and South competitions in 2007, after the SFA decided to allow full member clubs at non-league level direct entry to the Scottish Cup proper, and as a consequence the Qualifying Cups were scrapped. To compensate clubs for the demise of the tournaments, two new ones were put in their place. North The North competition was scrapped in 2009.
