2021–22 Miami Hurricanes Women's Basketball Team
The 2021–22 Miami Hurricanes women's basketball team represented the University of Miami during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Hurricanes were led by seventeenth-year head coach Katie Meier and played their home games at the Watsco Center as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Hurricanes finished the season 21–13 overall and 10–8 in ACC play to finish in a tie for seventh place. As the seventh seed in the ACC tournament, they defeated tenth seed Duke in the Second Round, second seeded Louisville in the Quarterfinals, and third seed Notre Dame in the Semifinals before losing to NC State in the Final. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament where they were the eighth seed in the Greensboro Regional. Katie Meier
Katie Meier (born December 19, 1967) is head coach of the women's basketball team at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. She is a 1990 graduate of Duke University, where she played college basketball. As of 2022, Meier has the most wins of any coach of the University of Miami women's basketball team in the program's 50-year history. Playing career Meier's success as a coach is a direct reflection on her playing career as a stand-out at Duke University. A four-year letter winner for the Blue Devils under head coach Debbie Leonard from 1986–90, Meier's name is scattered throughout the Duke record books. In 1990, Meier was named to the team representing the United States at the William Jones Cup competition in Taipei, Taiwan. 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2021 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 64 teams to determine the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college basketball national champion for the 2020–21 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The 39th edition of the tournament began on March 21, 2021, in sites around San Antonio, Texas, and concluded with the championship game on April 4 at the Alamodome, with the Stanford Cardinal defeating the Arizona Wildcats 54–53 to win their third NCAA title. The Old Dominion Monarchs women’s basketball team (formerly the Lady Monarchs) represents Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
