2021–22 Liga Națională (men's Handball)
The 2021–22 Liga Națională (known as the ''Liga Zimbrilor'') was the 64th season of the Liga Națională, Romanian premier handball league. It ram from 28 August 2021 to 22 May 2022. Dinamo București won their eighteenth title. Teams Team changes Arenas and locations The following 14 clubs compete in the Liga Națională during the 2021–22 season: League table Promotion/relegation play-offs The 11th and 12th-placed teams of the Liga Națională faces the 3rd and 4th-placed team of the Divizia A. The first two places promoted to Liga Națională and the last two relegated to Divizia A. The play-offs were played on neutral ground, in Ghimbav. The Romanian Handball League, commonly known as Liga Națională or more recently as Liga Zimbrilor, is the men's top Romanian professional Team handball, handball league. The league comprises fourteen teams. History This sport was first played in Romania in 1920. After a visit in Germany, a few physical education teachers introduced this sport in their classes. The ''Liga Națională'' was founded in 1933 (in 11 players) and in 1958 in the current format with 7 players. The most successful team in history is CSA Steaua Alexandrion București (handball), Steaua București with 28 titles. The current champions are CS Dinamo București (men's handball), Dinamo București. The city of Buzău (formerly spelled ''Buzeu'' or ''Buzĕu''; ) is the county seat of Buzău County, Romania, in the historical region of Muntenia. Clubul Sportiv Municipal Reșița, commonly known as CSM Reșița, or simply as Reșița, is a men's handball club from Reșița, Romania, that plays in the Divizia A. The club was founded in 2014 as ''HC Adrian Petrea Reșița'', to continue the handball tradition from town, after the dissolution of a much greater club UCM Reșița. After a few seasons in the Liga Națională, the club encountered financial difficulties and retired in the middle of the 2016–17 season.
